Sorry i was not sure where to put this topic.

I ride a mountain bike and train either off road every day or night riding 30 + miles each time.
depending on how i feel i use either the mountain bike or the road bike.
I also take part in endurance races and 24hr races as part of a team.

But how will HRT and the other drugs affect my body in the long term with what i do.

Just think i could be a girl in a mans body and beast the girls in thier own races!!!! Whoa thats a really heavy thought.

Hi Lolli...

Muscle Mass.... HRT will start to decrease the muscle mass you have and turn this into fat. Ultimately this will result in reduced strength and perhaps some loss of stamina. Post SRS this is quite significant, I have lost a lot of strength and power, that I would have taken for granted asa guy.

The rules on Transsexuals in sport are much clearer than before. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) are allowing TS to compete in the Olympic games for the first time in 2008. The stipulation is that you have to be two years post op and have been on continuous hormone treatment during that time.

There is a well known Canadian TS mountain Biker, Michelle Dumeresq, who entered the sport in 2001 and recently won the Canadian title, which qualifiers her for the world championships.

Michelle Dumaresq

There is also a TS Canadian road racer (who's name I can't remember) who will be competing in the Canadian team at the 2008 Olympics, but if you check out the Canadian Cycling websites you can find a link.

I started playing competetive womens sport in 2004, 2 years after my own SRS. Many associations now have specific rules allowing the inclusion of TS in Womens sport, following the IOC ruling.

In Oct 2005 I played in an International Softball tournament in Cairo and now Captain my home City. I also play Netball on a weekly basis.

Do I make an impact?, a difference?.... well I now only play team sports and the only advantage I do have is that at 5 foot 10, I have good height (playing first base is great) and also Wing Defense at Netball (where I am normally 6 inches taller than most girls), great for blocking.

Strength wise, there are 18-20 yo's in my softball team who hit, throw far better than I ever can....

So overall, in a team situation, I feel I am not an advantage to my team, because of my past.

I have only ever had one problem, which was in March 2006, when I was asked via my coach, "If I had always been a girl".... My reply was simply, well it says Girl on my birth certificate (I am English and changed this in 2005), to which my coach replied... "Thats good enough for me girl..."
