Ohai! =D

Long time reader, first time poster.  :P

I'm a 27-year-old MTF from Utah, who is still early on in her transition. I have a very sweet girlfriend, who I've lived with for four years, and who I came out to about a year ago. She's been extremely supportive, and proudly calls me her girlfriend when talking to people who know.

I always felt out of place as a boy, but until last year, I always assumed that doing something about it was just a fantasy. After crazy amounts of research, I started laser hair removal on my face in January, therapy in March, and hormones in July. I've come out to a lot of my close friends, and I feel lucky to have so many open and accepting people around me. In the last two weeks, I've also told my sister and mom, and I'm excited to stop hiding.

I'm a huge nerd, and spend a lot of time playing video games with my girlfriend, my favorite colors are blue and pink, and I love music!

Right now I'm focusing on my appearance, telling more friends, and procrastinating working on my voice. I'm also having a really hard time picking a name, mostly because I'm kinda fond of my male name, and I want to find something that I'll like even better. "Yoru" will do for now - it's the Japanese word for "night," and I am definitely a night-owl.  ;D

One thing that I really feel would be helpful right now is having some trans friends. I really have no trans friends, or even trans people that I talk to, so... be my buddy!  :D

Welcome Yoru, I hope you enjoy it here, there are many different people, I'm fairly new to "Susans Place myself  but find it very friendly.

I sincerely  hope it all goes well for you, I'm a MTF, but don't live in the US, but Australia.

All the best, Dianna.

Hey!  I'm from Utah too!  Which city are you from?

I now live in California near Sacramento.  It is a lot friendlier here than when I left Utah many years ago.  But I suppose Utah has changed some over those years.

Welcome!

Thanks for the welcome, ladies.

Cindi - I'm in the Salt Lake valley. In many ways it sucks, but it's home. While it can be pretty stifling, you can't have that on top of such a diverse group of peoples without ending up with a counter-culture as well. The trick is in finding that flip-side of the coin, but it's there. =)

Hi Yoru, :icon_wave:

Welcome to our little family. Over 3400 strong. That would be one heck of a family reunion.

Feel free to post your successes/failures, Hopes/dreams.  Ask questions and seek answers. Give and receive advice.

But remember we are family here, your family now. And it is always nice to have another sister. :icon_hug:

And be sure to check out

Oregon Here.  It is good that you have someone that is supportive.  So many of us go it alone.

Blessed Be.

Welcome to Susan's, Yoru.

It is wonderful your girlfriend is so supportive.  And that you are coming out to people who accept you.

There are lots of friendly people here, so pull up a keyboard and jump in.  Many here will be glad to offer friendship and advice.

Good luck on your journey. :)

Hi and welcome to Susan's!

This is a really great place with lots of info and also a lot of really caring and helpful people. Jump right on in and start sharing your opinions, feelings, experiences. It's what helps us all relate to one another and give and receive the support we're here for. ;D

It's awesome that your girlfriend is supportive, we have that in common. I came out as trans after I'd been dating my partner a few months, and sie has been incredibly accepting and helpful throughout this process. Also, I'm a huge nerd and totally addicted to video games as well!

Anyhow, welcome, and looking forward to getting to know you. :)
♫ Oh give me a home, where the trans people roam, and the queers and the androgynes play... ♫
