My trip was marvelous.  Local Stockholm time 4:49 P.M.  My colleagues and I will be here for about eight days working on a major project.  It's going to be a heidous week but well worth it.

I must say, after reading if for typos,

I'd hire me!!!

The best thing about this position is that it is in a part of the country where I would not have to hide who I really am.

Debbie

???

Good luck.  ;D

Thanks Maebh. I talked to a member of the search committee on Friday. It was a very enlightening and positive conversation.

Sorry for the typo in my note about looking for typos. Good catch. Next time I'm sending all my work to you for proofing.

Hope it all goes well for you.
I'm sure your PA will do a better job at it than me.

After one week in Stockholm, I'm home again.  Paris time 10:06 a.m.  Now the real work begins.  I've got to clean my flat and change my furniture around.  It's marvelous to be home :)

The summer heat has subsided somewhat and it is a beautiful day out.  The air is cool, clear, and fresh.  I think that I'll work outside today.

After feeling awful yesterday, I felt OK on my run today, though I only did four miles.  Slowly I'm getting back into it after a few days off.

Four miles?  I am impressed.  I'd be happy if I could walk 4 miles!

I swam in a bikini for the first time ever on Saturday.  What a great feeling. :)

Good for you.  I went to the beach in mine for the first time on Saturday.  Didn't really swim, but went wading up to the hips.

I had a good chat with my 84 year old mum on the phone to France this morning. Her operation was a success, she is brighter and in much less pain now. This evening she is being moved out of the hospital to a convalescent home near her brother's in Marseille. He will be able to visit her regularly and have a bit of company as he is 82 and lost his wife of 60 years at Xmass. She will have other people around too and will be able to have physio and become mobile again. This will also give some well deserved and badly needed respite to her husband.
I phoned my brother in Texas and he was so relieved by the news. It was a very trying time for all and I hope that she will recover fully soon. In some strange way all of this seem to have brought some healing and forgiveness about the past and made all of us closer than we ever were before.
Life is so full of surprises!

I made my fried rice for my wife and the daughter of a friend... garlic and eggs and onions and terriyaki and margerine and... they LOVED it. It's so nice when people enjoy what you make, ya know?

My hubby is home for the weekend!  He's asleep on the couch, but it is so nice just to have him here.

I'm taking Eileen to Paris for Bastille Day (14th of July)! Contrary to Lamartine I want time to fly until then. I just can't wait! To dance to the Flonflons of the Bals Populaires, to browse the Bouquinists stalls on the quays, to rest our weary feets at Monet's Danaids in the Musée de l'Orangerée, to stroll on the Boulevards, to sip a cool Kirr at the terrasse of a Bistro, so manythings to look forward to.
We are staying in Montmartre (a stonethrow from the Moulin Rouge) and I have booked dinner on the Bateaux Mouches for the fireworks at the Eiffel Tower. She is my Queen and deserves so much to be treated like one.  :icon_flower:

When I read this post, I thought we could meet.  But I also read your post to Tink.  Maybe next time.  Let me know when you are here again.

I played a concert tonight. It went very well and we got a standing ovation.  I love playing for people who appreciate it!

Thanks Jeannette.  My answer to Tink was only in jest!   >:D
Of course I would love to.  I have checked with Eileen and she would love that too, specially since you can speak English.

PS. By the way let us be clear...  :icon_redface: in re-reading my post, when I said that Eileen deserved to be treated like a Queen I never meant to have her head chopped-off but on the contrary to be appreciated and made feel very special because she so truely is. :icon_love:
