I played a concert tonight. It went very well and we got a standing ovation.  I love playing for people who appreciate it!

I hosted a gathering for my colleagues in March and had some local folk musicians in to give us a concert. Afterward my friends gave them  their first-ever standing ovation. The delight in their eyes (both the audience and the musicians) was wonderful to see.

I'm happy for you Cindi

I stepped out back this morning to call in Dog for her breakfast.  I'm a bit short sighted and I don't normally wear glasses for it.

Standing 100 feet away was a large black animal.  Was it Dog? No, I knew that she was on the other side of the house. Was it another dog?  The morning sun was bright and the black animal was facing me so I could not determine its shape.  No, it had a huge humped back.

I whistled for Dog.  As she came bounding round the house, she paused as she recognized the visitor.  And then she went after it.  As the transient turned to run down the hill towards the creek.  It was a wild boar!  I have seen  boar in the coastal range but never here in the Sierra. I've heard rumors of their existence.  But now I've seen one.  This was a large and nimble animal. I was surprised to see its agility in navigating the brush as it scurried away with Dog in pursuit.

Dog will pursue and fight with the coyotes but for some reason, she chased the giant pig for only a hundred feet or so and then let it go.  Dog patrolled her standard "protection zone" for a bit to make sure the stranger would not return and then came in for her breakfast.

What a wonderful sight!  I love wildlife and now I can add another critter to the list of those who live in my neighborhood.

Last week Rashelle finally got a job.  She was let go right before her SRS last September and wasn't able to resume working until now.  I'm proud of her.

Also, I found out I got a part in the musical I had auditioned for.  Rehearsals start today.

I just saw The Wizard of Oz at The Fox Theater one of the old time movie palaces (seats over 4000 people).  I've probably seen it at least 50 times on television but, trust me, that's nothing compared to seeing it on the big screen.  I felt like a kid again!!!!

I just finished testing an instrument that I've been working on for three months.  The customer is going to be really happy with this, I know.  It is beautiful.  Now, I need to spend the next few days disassembling it and packing it up for shipment.  This is a big relief handling so much of someone else's hard earned cash and wondering if it is going to turn out right.  I always worry about the computers not working or the optics or any one of a hundred other possible problems.

I AM IN PARIS!
Eileen waited for me all day yesterday at the James Joyce Pub Porte Maillot and I eventually arrived from Marseille after my Mum's burial. I'll tell more when I am back in Dublin. This morning we stolled around Montmartre, Pigalles, Blanche and Place Clichy. Tonight candle dinner on the Bateaux Mouches and Fireworks at the Eiffel Tower. Tomorrow the Marais, Rue de Rivoli, La Citee et Le Quartier Latin.

I tried to do some pull-ups today, and did five comfortably -- probably could have done one or two more.  I'm gaining upper-body strength quickly -- this will go well with my running.

On my car I had a coolant leak into the oil.  I started repairs on Sunday, ended up taking the engine apart down to valves (I have photos too), and finished reassembling it this morning and drove it to work. ;D  I probably saved at least a thousand bucks doing it myself.

Cool, Buffy!  Where are you staying?  Be sure to do the laser light night show at the Sphinx, it's awesome.   And I'm sure you already know, but be VERY careful what you eat and drink.  When I was there my partner ended up with a terrible case of Mummy Tummy.

I decided to take the day off today.  I slept in until 9:30.  I've played on the internet all morning.  And I think that I'll drive down to town for the afternoon.  I've needed some time to goof off for quite a while.  I have to learn what weekends are for!

Have fun in Egypt Buffy!  I don't think that I'll ever get the chance.  So enjoy it enough for me too!
