Came out as a bisexual guy for the first time to a close friend. I guess it's not particularly wonderful as I was pretty sure she was gonna be cool with it, but it did lift off a tiny bit of closet pressure. :D

Something wonderful that happened to me today?

I had my first day of work. I work in the aquatics department (read: everything but cashier duty). It went great, I was super happy to get out of the house for a few hours, and I got to work with cats, handle all sorts of animals from mice to ferrets to a parrot, and.. stock fish.

Turns out my cousin Zachary is working there too, which is fantastic because he's the most superb guy I've ever met. In the course of a day, he mistook a crab for a piece of dust, walked around with aforementioned crab hanging on on his shoulder, wore a styrofoam box liner on his head, and periodically burst into verses of American Pie for the parrot's enjoyment. That bird really digs him.

On the other hand I came home smelling like a fish, also discovered why the garbage cans there always smell like dead fish (which would be because they are full of dead fish), got attacked by a tankful of angry feeder mice, and almost lost two finches.

It was an interesting first day, and overall, probably the best day I've had all summer! I really like my job.

I got my new eyeglasses a couple of days ago. These are a more feminine style than my old ones and they rock!! *does a happy dance* If I ever get around to buying a camera I will post a pic.

I took 2 shopping trolleys of groceries to the local women's shelter, which currently has 11 women and 17 children. They have been without a sponsor for the last two months and I am going , through my Company to pay for their food.

Its not just third world countries, there is an American, British and German lady who have all suffered from abusive partners.

I actually felt very hummble when I handed the food over, no child should EVER be without food.

Hi  Buffy, if you have a desire to help these children and their moms and if you have the time you could put in some time volunteering for them. They are always short of volunteers. That is what I am doing now at the women's shelter where I work. They always need someone who is caring

For the last week I have been lucky enough to play with some Lion Cubs (and a baby Cheetah)

They are just like really big Kittens, but at 3 months old increadibly strong already.

So...meet Sarah, the Lioness!

Hi Cindi thank Great Spirit for your letting us know about your official retirement. Yes do get involved in something else. I was only two years into retirement and I nearly went bat poo poo. I found out I just wasn't the type to just sit around and watch myself grow more wrinkles and white hair in the mirror. Now that I am busy doing things again I feel twenty years younger then I am.

Retired???  Wow....!  You are too young to be able to retire.  Any ideas what your next adventure might be?

Hi Buffy, yep that is exactly what I am doing. I presently work at a woman's shelter two days per week and also putting in time working in the TS community as well as running an Empath meetup group and a Metaphysical group every second week here in Vancouver and also run a Yahoo message board of my own. Maybe I should also go back to flying bush planes, "hee, hee" well the bush plane thing may have to wait until we have money.  ;D

Cindi, I once knew someone who had a lioness.  At three months they are cute and strong.  At seven months they are cute and REALLY strong plus eating a huge amount of meat.  You don't even want that food bill.

Congratulations on joining those of us in retirement.  As far as an adventure goes, I decided to take a couple of digital photography courses at the local college.  I've been using film SLRs for almost 40 years but these digitals SLRs are a whole new animal.

Is that a hint to post some Ireland pics?  How about these Ireland pics.

I did post a new pic in the Nature section called "Evening Glory".  One that I've entered for consideration in an online gallery.  A gallery that's quite difficult to get a picture accepted into.

Hi BeverlyAnn hon, the link didn't work. I have been wanting to get myself a good camera, but as finances go we can't afford to buy a decent camera so I guess I'll have to stick to the disposable jobbies for now. What I am most looking forward ti is something that can take pictures at a long distance.

There is a great lesson in the saying "he's got a tiger by the tail".  ;)

It's funny how you mention photograpy.  It has long been one of my hobbies.  You know... something that comes and goes every few years.  I tried to go pro in the early nineties.  I did get some work published here in California but never became successful. That did not diminish my love for the hobby.  I just purchased a digital SLR and I'm going out every few days with a friend for some shooting.  I'll have to post some pics one of these days.

Alice, I'm glad that you are feeling better.
