Well, as some of you already know, my dad had his second major open-heart surgery today, and thankfully everything went perfectly fine. His doctors removed two of the previous by-passes that he had had a few years back; they also removed an aneurysm which had developed in his aorta, compromising both of his kidneys. They had been watching his aneurysm for about two years now, making sure that it wasn't growing to the point that it could become deadly. In the last few months, he underwent a series of medical tests, and finally they confirmed our worst fears; his aneurysm had, in fact, grown to very dangerous proportions and my poor dad had basically become a walking bomb.
Fortunately, today, it was successfully removed and the doctors also repaired two of the main arteries which supply blood to his kidneys, so essentially he had two operations in one. The entire procedure lasted six hours, and again they were the longest six hours of my life. I am just so glad that it is over, and amazingly he is recovering so fast; his doctors are very impressed with his health in spite of all the surgeries and medical problems he has had in the last eight years.

So, yeah, today is a good day despite everything else. I am just sorry that some else coded in the ICU while we were there. I don't know what happened to the patient, but apparently it was nothing good.

Anyway, today is a wonderful day.
