I'm 3 years post op and have been injecting estradiol valerate for much of that time. I'm just curious what the effect on body and mind would be to stop hormones. Any ideas or knowledge? Thanks!

Modified dosage Rule #8

Hi Rava

I can't (and won't) comment on dosage, partly because I take pills and so don't know what the injectable equivalent is, and partly because the board rules don't permit such details to be posted or discussed.

But in general terms, postop you will need at least some level of HRT FOR LIFE! That's because unlike a menopausal natal woman you now have very little ability to produce your own sex hormones. Failure to maintain at least a basic dose longterm will almost certainly result in crippling osteoporosis and could also contribute to other serious medical problems.

I know of several people who tried to do without hormones for various reasons. All have lived to regret it and are now back on at least a minimal dosage of hormones.

Dear Rejennyrated, Thank you for your reply. sorry about mentioning dosages. That really didn't matter to me one way or the other. I was more interested in the effects of stopping and your reply was kind of what I thought the answer might be. Thanks. I just haven't seen much information about that subject so I thought I would come to the place where there is first (or at least 2nd) hand knowledge. Thanks again. I believe I will cut my abstinence experiment short. :D
