It's also why it's not a bunch of white guys messing with a bunch of Native Americans or a bunch of Hispanics messing with a bunch of Indians, though the Hispanic one might have drawn an audience because it isn't as well known.

I was going to use this movie in my socially class to talk about racism, actually.

For me it was less about racism and more about the Xenophobic behaviour humans commit, though, as it's the director's way of alluding to the true incident or law enforced racial segregation it makes sense to say it is also about racism. It can also be about human behaviour and how we are able to let others live poorly as long as we aren't affected.

I found it more racial, though the racism was based off of the xenophobia.  So it had both, at least in my book.  But it was easier, for me, to specify which parts were racism than xenophobia because the whole movie was about xenophobia...I hope that all makes sense.

Yeah, that does. Prejudice ways always connect to other prejudice ways.

I've been raving about this film ever since I saw it. It's probably easy enough to pick it apart - unsubtle message, gross presentation, etc. - but as films go, the whole is better than the sum of its parts. It's effective, it's moving, it's memorable, it's honorable.
