We rented this movie for Christmas and it was awesome.  I love Sci Fi and this one is a keeper.  ;D

I saw this and I didn't really like it. I guess it was hyped up to much so my expectations where a little shot..

Would give it another watch though!

I watched it, and it made me cry, more than once...

Why am I the only one who thought it was stupid  :-\

I'm sorry, but aliens coming to the earth is a great storyline and you can be preachy if your'e SUBTLE, but District 9 was everything but.

Firefly was an incredibly stupid concept, but was done in such a way that it's hailed as brilliant. Buffy the Vampire Slayer, same thing. The new series "V" is shaping up to be nice as well. I'm sorry but for me this District 9 is the "Twilight" of alien movies.

it wasn't really an alien movie at all, it was more of a social commentary that used aliens as a way to move the story along. but I didn't think it was all that great of a movie and the ending left me a little disappointed, but I want some of that cat food!

The only problem with that cat food, is a half hour later, you want to chase mice.

Wait there goes one now......................................................

Same here.

The Twilight of alien movies?  What?  That's... what?

I just watched it last night.  We were having a double feature DVD night and we had just made supper and sat around the idiot box for the movie.

It was a little gruesome in the beginning and put me off my appetite while I was eating.

The fact that humans can oppress anything different from them is a common theme, both in film and in real life.

We may start out with the best of intentions to do good, but eventually it becomes doing bad in the name of good.

I was uplifted by the ending of the movie, and the CGI effects were incredible.  It looked so very real.  But the transformation of the main character and the alien weapon killing effects were a bit gross, but that added to the realism.

Awesome movie. I saw it on my birthday last year.

Yeah I watched it awhile back and ...well.... I kinda fell a sleep through some of it but saw enough to realise I didn't like it, maybe if I liked guns *shrugs*.
Plus it seemed to rotate around one or two maybe three locations which got rather stiflingly boring. Was there a plot? I must of missed that bit, it may of been shrouded by cat food and ..guns. Did I mention there were a lot of guns in it?? Those kind that never run out of bullets.. *yawn*.

So, my philosophy professor's originally from Johannesburg.  Turns out that they actually call the people of Midtown the "Midtown Prawns" because they scavenge and stuff.  I don't even think they consider it slurring, though obviously it is.
