I wanted to be a paleosomething, like Dr. Sattler from Jurassic Park.  Now that I'm in university, I'm working towards a degree in evolutionary biology with a ton of really awesome paleo classes, so I'm well on my way!
I also wanted to be an author, and I still do that in my free time.  I doubt I'll ever be able to make a living off of it though.

Obviously I wanted to be a girl, and still do, well a woman now since I am a bit older.

But besides that I always wanted to be a pilot.  The only way I could achieve that due to financial issues was via the air force, but since my eye sight is shot that was never going to happen.  I was also interested in electronics and ended up becoming an Avionics Engineer, which is pretty much what I still do.

Oh and since I am one of those strange sports loving people, i wanted to represent my country, any sport would do.  When i was really little it was cricket, later it became netball.

Hands down, I wanted to be on the radio. A DJ, preferably one of those with a license to act a fool.

Me too, Laura.

I was hooked on radio as a kid (1940s) and had some hands-on experience when I was in high school.  But I didn't go into it full-time till I was forty.  I was on the air but soon found that I preferred writing and producing commercials.  It was a fourteen-year arc of fun and creative challenge, but then I got bored and moved on.

Funny thing is I wanted to be just like my Dad.  I looked up to him more than anyone in the world.  He was a Engineer at IBM, he worked for IBM on the Saturn V rockets that went to the moon, his picture is on a microfiche on the moon as I type.  He could fix anything in the world with his two bare hands and the right tools.  I think he was an athlete in High School.  He went to the University of Oklahoma.  He had 5 kids and put them all through college when his own parents didn't graduate from college themselves.

Well I pretty accomplished a lot of things he did.  I set out to do all those things.  Things changed a bit in college when I failed my first engineering class so I switch to Landscape Architecture.  I think that is when I started to fly my own destiny.  Some of us don't realize we wanted to be something different all along, our role models were good, they just don't always suit what is best for us sometimes and we will chase others dreams before finding our own.

I am now a Licensed Architect in 2 states, father of two wonderful kids and I will put them through college someday, I am a healthy happy person, and that is most important.  That is what I really wanted all along, and I was not truly happy those first 39 years, no matter how good my life was.
This is my life now and it is what I want to be, forget the past and what I thought I wanted to be.

I wanted to be a magician's assistant!

No kidding! They were all so pretty and they wore lovely costumes.

As a child I wanted to be levitated by a magician and lowered in to a box with my head and feet showing, then sawn in half. The ladies who I saw that were sawn in half, were always smiling at the audience during the performance and they seemed to enjoy the magical experience.

It wasn't until much later that I discovered how the trick works. But I still wanted to be a woman and gets lots of attention on stage and wear those sexy costumes.

First I wanted to be a cartoonist, later I wanted to be a professional trumpet player... Probably more on the jazz side. But that was back before I became stupid and depressed and ruined my chances of becoming a music performance major... but that's okay, I'd never make enough money anyway. XD

All i ever dreamed about was being a pilot, commercial or military it didn't matter. 2nd choice was a police officer or dea/atf dealing with drugs, had this uncle growing up we were terrified of because he was high all the time. He would have been my 1st arrest!!!!

The DEA does not go after people who are high, they go after traffickers, who as a rule almost always do NOT do the drugs they traffic in.
FIGHT APATHY!, or don't...

When I was young I was into Hello Kitty and had a Pink Barbie Bicycle. First I wanted to be a computer. Then a magician. I always fantasized that I was a cyborg and was sexually aroused when I thought about myself being dissected and sawed in half. Then I wanted to be a tiger. Then a dragon. Then a tiger. Then I wanted to be a fighter-pilot. Then I wanted to be a cute girly boy. I was sexually aroused when I imagined myself being a plastic sentient girl toy and guys litterally eating my entire body while I was still alive, in the middle of the supermarket. Then I wanted to be a Bionicle. Then I wanted to be a Badass. Now I want to be a boy that looks like a girl but also the queen of darkness that is not actually a Queen but a Guy with an evil snake voice with awesome Badass Satanic Armor but looks like a girl Although he does not have boobs.

Throughout my life I've always wanted to be a musiscian, artist, and film and game designer. Some times I wanted to jam the radio waves to broadcast parodies of radio announcers and Dj's. Or have my own fake news program. I wouldn't mind being a rogue soldier of fortune. I could take potshots at poachers and earn money by killing the people who make Darfur such a bad place.

I wanted to be what I am working on being now a teacher, I of course wanted to be other things I wanted to be a firefighter did that, I wanted to race cars did that, and I wanted to work in politics I even did that but I am thirty and back in school to do what I wanted to do as a child. I come from a long line of teachers on both sides of my family so I really do not know why it has taken me so long to finally just do it.

I wanted to be a rock star/poet.  My reality job was to be a very good wiatress in an upscale place where I would make lots of money, have an apartment, a roomate and a cat! I was a very good waitress but, not in the right place so I never made the money to have the kind of place I liked. My degree is in Human Services and I own a bookstore - not at all what I expected my life to be!

Ahh!! Me too!!! I loved to read, and read Jurassic Park when I was in the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grades!! I wanted to be a paleontologist.

But, alas, I was better at numbers, thus, I'm a bean counter.

I wanted to be a Marine Biologist but I was cohersed into the military by my parents apparently to make a man of me.....that was never going to work.... after leaving that macho environment I became a Medical Engineer. But since transitioning I have left that all behind for my artwork and since finding my soulmate I am now waiting to become her wife in the very near future  ;)
