Logically neither males nor female should be taking the opposite sex's hormones except as naturally pass during sex.

Where are you getting this? Ive searched extensively for this BRSS effect, and cannot find it, nevermind how lesbian women somehow are 'chunkier'  indisputably...

Also, Surplus e being converted to T is a trans urban legend. and False. Surplus estrogen is simply metabolised and passed.... where do you think premarin comes from?

I still doubt my height loss, I saw another measuring of me before HRT which was about 164cm.
Estrogen converted to Testosterone? no, more like the other way around.
My Testosterone is like 0.2 ng/ml (or was it ng/dl?, anyhow really low. And estrogen dowse is quite high.

Not all those who start late are big built, some pass as really slender women, it is a lot of luck. Question is what's more common.
And about lesbians, it might be more likely for sterotypes to be more extrovert about it and in communities while those who look normal might be comfortable more, just like in the trans community. You go if you need the support or social group.

I have actually grown in height while on estradiol, but mine is not a typical MtF situation, in that I started with really, really low levels of testosterone due to my hypogonadism.

As for lesbians being "chunky," which lesbians, and according to whom? Many of the young dykes I know are amazingly skinny - hipster-skinny. One of my best dyke friends is a total string bean - she looks like an overgrown little boy, and she's 26!

Well I am surprised after being away from my post on this subject for a couple of days that it has turned into a debate on butch lesbians. Well there are some and some are petite and everything in between, come on peps get a life.

Well I spoke to my gender consultant this week and he said its not possible to be osteoporosis with my level of estrogen and I have no other symptoms that would associate it with the above. I have an appointment with my doctor next week just for some scientific tests to be on the safe side but I'm not expecting anything to turn up except I am smaller by nearly two inches. At a previous hight of 5ft 6inches I was not particularly bothered about my hight but at 5ft 4inces I feel a little small now. Especially with other transwomen I know that now tower over me.

I hate high heels and have always worn fairly flat shoes and I can't see me wearing anything else. I started this post because I too was curious if there were other transwoman had lose of hight due to their hormonal treatment. It appears to me that there are some who have, even among transwomen that I know in other support groups. Now what is happening is another question and maybe needs scientific analysis to establish the cause. I suppose there may be someone out there interested in this subject. This is my last word on the subject and I will have to live with my new hight.

I thought this whole shrinking idea was ridiculous, especially before reading on to the sciency posts.  I went ahead and measured myself and found that I am absolutely 3/4" shorter than I was 6 months ago, with definitely no mis-measurement involved.  o.O!

Hi Jen, I told you so, lol 2 inches seems to be the average amount of hight that some transwomen loose. I have heard of one who lost 2 1/2 inches.

well in your neck of the wood sit may be a legend but this very Monday I had appointmnet with endocrinologist and he told me that there was no use taking more estro because.........it gets converted to testo!
of course he's only an endo so what does he know?
premairn comes from ponies which have four legs..so obviously they pee out excess estro

and while we're on the subject of weak bones I had a MRI csan for bone density tow years ago as part of my transition and the density was fine...then a few days later I tested it practically by slipping on snow...wnet down with a great thump right on my hip bone so I know how older women break theirs

Hi, just a thought then. Is there any correlation between the muscles turning to fat and breast growth as most of the growth in breast tissue is fat and the redistribution of that fat to the female areas of the body. So those who have reduced in hight have they also seen better breast growth than others that have not shrunk in hight?

Not with me...I wasn't so muscular but did have a bit above average top muscles from operating machines...but once I got on estrogen they slipped all the way to my hips...I have lovely soft padded hips now and last pair of male jears I'd hung on to were about 4 inches short of meeting when I finally threw them out.
To get boobs I had to have implants.

it probably comes down to genes as usual but i cant complain at my height lose and breast growth at all, everyone thinks ive had a boob job (thats nov) but it is validing to hear.

i posted ages before i was once 5,5" now im under 5,3" so make of that whatever you can i guess i feel hrt helped though

May be you can start a survey to see how many of us on this site have shrunk. Just by the asking people to click on something to register whether they have shrunk or not. I haven't the time.

Good idea legallyblonde... but then again not many do much medical research into transitional stuff... just the why, not the how. I think its highly likely it happens to most to varying degrees. Hormonal receptability is a big factor, not everyone's pelvis rotates quite to the same degree in all females or males, and for some , hrt has little effect, so not much change... I suspect its like all things, some do, some dont.
