Honestly? I want to get to a point with my mother where that's how she thinks of me, since that's how I identify.

I'm glad you could get there with your mum.

I figure the best reply I can give is that you'll take my mum as a hopeful example that it is very possible. Of course it takes time, but yep we exist, and yep we are acknowledged, also by those we hold dearest.

I'm really quite content where we got now. No pressure, no haunting thoughts of the kingdom of over-analysing. Everything that'll come in the future in terms of understanding will just be a naturally process, not one I need to force.
