Yeah well the motto for our production group is "First In, Last Out." And we were chosen by the Dead organization itself to be the production team for this because most of us remember what it was like back in the day BJD (Before Jerry Died) when we could hold these three day fests were people could show up at the beginning, park their car, pitch the tent and not leave until it the band was all packed and gone. So we're going to try to pull it off one more time with some more recent modifications. So were going to give in a bit to the rave scene and have an all-night dance tent (for some reason a lot of people have trouble sleeping at these things, something in the water? LOL) and because the all night jam session of people endlessly playing Sugar Magnolia (poorly) kept what few people who wanted/needed to sleep awake, we're setting up a special stage so that those people can have a place to play away from the camping. (my idea by the way - and don't worry I'm being punished for that, as I'm going to be the stage manager for that bit of all night cat herding).
Now I'm pretty sure that somewhere in the middle of this, when Bobby and Phil et.all. are playing Workingman's Dead and American Beauty back to back to celebrate/commemorate their release some 40 years ago (god I'm getting old) and I'm standing there on the side of the stage with a huge spliff doing the puff, puff, pass deal its going to be one of the greatest moments in my show biz career, and outside of the birth of my kids, perhaps one of the great events in my life. But just packing made me all happy.
