I've never heard of the parasite eve games is it an RPG?

Hmm... not really, in the traditional sense. It's more a survival horror style game in the vein of Resident Evil or Dino Crisis (the original on PS1), but it has a lot of RPG elements. The first game never came out in the UK, but the second one is one of my absolute favourite games for the original Playstation.

The third one is a PSP exclusive, as far as I know. I never played it though.

Depending on who you talk to, it's probably best if you pretend it's not a part of the Parasite Eve series.  The story was stupid and full of holes, and a lot of people consider what they did to Aya Brea to be nothing less than a character assassination.  I think the only two positives I've heard about the game are that the graphics are high-end for the PSP, and the music is phenomenal.

And considering how much I loved Aya from the first two games, I'm inclined to agree: it's pretty horrible.
