Well today was my first session with my therapist, after coming out to her...
I was worried all week, about how she would react, about what the session would be like..
I can honestly say it went really well, and while it left me with more questions than I went in with, (in a good way) it was really rewarding.
raised a few questions for me about where I want to be with my life and where I want to go.

I loved the time I had with my therapist.  It was nice to talk to someone who totally got it.  My therapist is FtM, so he know what is what.

I have been seeing someone too, and it really is good to be able to have help from someone who knows how to get me to ask myself the right questions.

I couldn't have said it better myself.
I had some scary thoughts of a therapist not understanding, but as you say, she is helping me to ask the right questions of myself.
I feel like i'm learning to walk. I'm sure there will be some stumbles and falls, but oneday, I will run, thats what I look forward to.

I'm seeing a gender therapist at the moment and also find the experience very helpful. I also left my therapist with a number of questions for myself about where I was going and what I was doing.. So far those question have all led me back to the same place.. I'd have to say that I'm finding it very worthwhile.. In fact I'd recommend therapy for anyone thinking about transitioning or having gender issues..

However, there are some people here at Susan's that are quite bitter about their experiences with therapists, so don't be surprised if your post generates a few negative comments. We are lucky in Australia that therapist are required to have a decent minimum education standard, unlike some other countries, which is probably the cause of some of this bitterness..

I found my therapist very helpful, too.  She would sometimes guide me, but I think much of the value was in having to get my thoughts in order well enough to be able to articulate them.  She, too, was very supportive through the whole process.  She accepted me as who I am, which is a wonderful thing.
