Eve of chaos

saw the hair advice threads popping up and I thought id give it a go since I am at a loss with my hair

I had a mohawk for three years so the sides are growing in alot slower. also I was going for a drullet before so the back is alot longer than the front even. and just general hair styles to shoot for in the future with my face shape :p

here comes the ugly pics >.<

(on a side note I'm really noticing my brow bossing in these pics. Is it something I might have to consider fixing later on or is there a chance HRT will fix it somewhat somehow?)

No sweetie HRT will not fix that :(. For your brow you will need FFS if you want to go down that route, for everyone that is a very personal decision.

With HRT around six to seven months should soften your face up around the jaw line and the apple cheeks should come maybe there or around a year or so. You will notice gradual changes to your face over a long period, being more then a year. Keep a photo diary so you can look back and not get frustrated. An make sure to have a damn good moisturizer for your skin because HRT will dry the hell out of you. ;)

I figured as much :/

o well i hope its not really as bad as it looks to me, I would really like to avoid surgeries i could probably never afford along with everything else.

Can't see the pics as i'm at work atm but I guaruntee that it's not as bad as it looks to you, simply because when we look at ourselves in the mirror we we zero in on what we consider to be our vile and disgusting masculine features to such an extent that we ignore everything else. Generally, in polite society people don't subject subject other people to such an intense level of scrutiny.

The trick is not to chase perfection because all that will happen is you'll end up looking like a charictiture and actually make yourself more obvious...not less. also surgery costs a shed load, why have stuff you don't really need.

that first pix really is ugly teenage boy.
pulling hair back will accentuate the recession at top fronts so let the hair fall over the ears and better start saving for transplants or wigs.

i don't see any brow bossing to worry about.

ditto on the forehead.

One thing that will really help is to get a good hairdresser  to cut out all the split ends and add a bit of shape on a regular basis.  I was surprised at the effect after I had been growing mine out from a  buzz cut after 6 months of not getting it cut at all.  Although a little shorter, it had a lot better shape.
The colour in your avatar is nice already.

Yeah no hope on the forehead I'm sorry I'm in the same boat tho with a moderate amount of it thus fringe (Bangs) not perfect but it's a medium term solution for now.

The lower front and sides of your face are more female than male and your face is quite round (Whitch is better than I've got ala heavy chin) so you have a good choice of which ones you want. Although because your face is quite small you might want to avoid some of the longer ones.

...Is it really that bad...I thought that was one of the things i didnt have to worry about...

There are such things as Rogaine and Finasteride (Propecia)  that have in some cases regrown hair, but at the very least have been shown to prevent baldness.  Most MtFs take them as part of HRT, but you can always take the 1mg dose just becuase you want to keep the hair you have etc, without it being considered HRT.  As for the rest of it, a good stylist should be able to help you with it.  And I mean a good one, like all things you get what you pay for.

As for the brow bossing, I'll second what everyone else has said.  My personal feelings on FFS, its the new must have for MtF.  There are plenty of people that it makes all the difference in the world, but for most people less drastic measures can do the trick.  I think alot of surgeons have made a ton of money from desperate MtFs who considered it their only option without trying less invasive, less costly measures first.

looking at the pictures your hairline is very similar to mine...not balding, just the way it's always been. getting a style that works with what you've got is the best thing with a possibility of a hair transplant as another...but I wouldn't worry about that while you have bigger fish to fry.

I'm not really suggesting that anyone is balding, myself included.  My therapists exact words were "You've got great hair, I have plenty of clients that would kill for your hair.  You really should take finasteride to make sure you keep what you've got."  My advice would be the same, don't fight the battle on one front to be outflanked on another.

i thought i read somewhere that when on HRT you dont have to worry about male pattern baldness, or am i dead wrong?

Females can and do go bald.  The trait is passed on from your mother's side, so for an MtF look at your maternal grandfather and that should be your best indicator.  The actual science of what causes baldness is based on the fact that testosterone does damage hair folicles causing the hair to fall out and not grow back.  Higher levels of testosterone do increase the risk of baldness, but like I said women do go bald.  Finasteride, being an anti-androgen, helps prevent baldness.

your right the T blockers will eliminate male pattern baldness and cause a reversal in regions where hair has been lost in the past 6 months.

Female pattern baldness is associated with high levels of P which isn't something you have to worry about most don't go on P and even those that do take micronized type which is rapidly broken down by the body (within 4 hours of taking it) Thus don't cause the chronic interaction that induces perminant hair loss.

You should ignore lilac she allergic to empathy. ¬.¬ Her rep implies this.

I wasn't criticizing your face shape at all with my first post I was merely pointing out bits damaged by T that you might want to cover up :) and which style I think would look good for you. I think you have a nice face and bone structure I'd swap with you if I could ^.^

I wouldn't worry about it.  Our flaws tend not to be as bad as we think and as much as we get down on ourselves and think "I'll never look like her", we forget that someone is looking at us thinking the same thing.

As for hair advice:

I reread your post :p I guess I was too distraught earlier to notice you were giving advice>.<

so thank you, I'm gonna take that into consideration and go to a salon sometime, maybe not soon, I might wait for my hair to grow a bit.

Nero

Looks like you've got good hair. And you already have bangs which was what I would suggest. I wouldn't worry too much about the hairline. It looks fine to me and many women wear bangs to cover a high forehead and whatnot (or just because they look good on them).
What kind of hairstyles do you like? As has been mentioned, a good stylist will help you integrate your preferences with what looks good on you.

And ignore any rudeness. You have all the makings of a very cute girl.
