Kia Ora all,

::) A simple hypothetical question[wishful thinking perhaps for some], but it does require some serious food for thought!

Would you be both mentally and physically ready to have surgery if it was offered to you "tomorrow" for free? And it could "only' be performed "tomorrow" and not any other time for free...

Metta Zenda :)

what time should I be there?!!?

Does the phrase "in a New York minute" answer the question for myself?

I would take it if someone offered it, "tomorrow" for free.

I shouldn't, but I certainly would. I mean, I know taking things slower, and planning them out, and letting HRT do it's thing for some time is all the best way to do things. But, I just know that if I were offered something like that I would do it, I am too impatient at my core. I mean, it is much easier to wait and plan things out, because I need those plans  and time to make the money to afford surgery, but if I could afford it now, it would be very hard not to go full speed ahead consequences be damned.

I would jump at at that offer, right now i'm waiting for free treatment on the NHS but the worst thing is the 6 months of waiting to get nowhere. Whilst I can't afford this procedure the part that sells the question is the word "tomorrow" anything to put an end to the endless waiting & uncertainty

Definitely not.
The only downstairs surgery I plan on getting is a hysterecomy eventually. I enjoy sex way too much to take that away from myself, it's one of the only things that gives my mind a break.

Explain please.

The other costs were more than I bargained for.  I made it 57 years, I could have waited another 5 until I could fully retire.  And I would have eased my kids into it along the way if I really had to transition.  I doubt I would have felt such a strong need if I never got on HRT.

Yes, I would definitely do it.  Even though I don't have all the growth I want, I would still have the surgery.  Or at least a hysto if that was a part of the offer.

Of course...it's highly unlikely that kind of offer will occur.  But in the event that it does (when pigs soar the skies), I would take it.

I understand completely, I have said several times,
"I do not regret having transitioned, only the way I went about it."
I am curious though, you indicated that you wish you had waited another five years.
Do you also regret not having transitioned earlier in your life?
Also, with all regrets for events in your unchangable past aside,
how would you characterize your satisfaction level with your life in this very moment?

My reservations would be the quality of the surgeon performing the surgery.... I wouldn't want to be butchered... =A=

Depends what surgery you mean.

If it's FFS, certainly not, that is entirely a last resort and I don't think I'll ever need it.

SRS... maybe. Free is very tempting, but surgery of any kind terrifies me and I'd rather have a few days to mentally prepare for it.

Also it depends on who is doing the surgery.

I'm assuming for the sake of the question that what's implied is "your choice of surgeons, all expenses paid, all stipulations (such as time off hormones and so forth) met) - even your choice of dates"

In other words, all the prudent concerns anyone might have aside.

that still wouldn't cover things like "what about my kids?" or whatever but there are some things money can't fix.

It would depend what surgery for me... If it is top surgery (I'm a transguy) then yes, without hesitation. I'm scared of surgery, but top surgery is going to be vital for me to survive.
