Saw GotG this past weekend and I'm on the bandwagon with everyone else. Best thing to come out of the Marvel movie division since... ever.
April 22, 2015, the day of my first face to face pass in gender neutral clothes and no makeup. It may be months to the next one, but I'm good with that!

I wasn't very impressed with the trailers for Guardians so I didn't expect much. Boy was I wrong. It was very good. I think it just suffered in my expectations from being so over-hyped.

I wish companies would stop over-hyping films and games. I think that we'd all rather be pleasantly surprised.

Ha. Even that won't stop me.

I'll throw in another thumbs up for Guardians of the Galaxy. Saw it Saturday. Hope they make another before too long so I can find out just who his alien father is.

And my brother and his girlfriend told me to wait for DVD on Lucy, that it wasn't as good as hyped.

Django,

A pre civil war movie with Leonardo Decaprio and Westly Snipes. Be warned if you're offended by slave ownership and outright racism this is not the movie for you. It did though have quite a few hilarious scenes and did have an in-depth plot. Well worth watching in my opinion, and I would never have thought Leonardo Decaprio would ever play the roll of a slave owning racist cruel vindictive Mandingo fighting coneseur.

July 28, 2014.  If you can't wait that long I have read the comics and can give you the gist on his father.

Nuts! Without a time machine how will we ever see it?  >:-)

As to his father, from what I researched, the father described in the comics and the back story of Starlord, don't match what was already revealed in the movie. They may have changed it for the movie so reading the comics may be no help.

July 28, 2014 has already occurred, at least in the timeline I currently reside in....

And no, don't tell me, I'd rather wait and see the movie.

When I looked at it yesterday they were predicting 2017, but how often do movies actually come out when scheduled?

I think the 2014 here is a probably a typo, like that GRS thread which says 1014 instead of 2014.

Anyway I recently watched the original Dune and I can honestly say I understood only about half of what was going on XD

Haha, yup - July 28, 2017. Marvel Studios has stuck to their release plans so far, so I wouldn't expect that date to change by more than a few weeks.

I learned long ago to have low expectations for all movies. The greater the hype the lower the expectation. I haven't been disappointed by a movie since!

I recently watched cabin in the woods, not half bad (tbh, could have been a wee bit better though).

Reading the book first helps massively with watching Dune. Also, which cut did you watch? The shortened theatrical cut or the long (3+ hours I think?) version? The shortened version cuts in some places it shouldn't have as far as plot coherency is concerned. I also have to say as much as I enjoyed the original Dune, I liked the SciFi miniseries better.

I just saw Boyhood.  It's way too long, but it lived up to its acclaim.

I just finished NYMPHOMANIAC Vol 1 tonight and it was far weirder than I even imagined. Probably Von Trier's most fanciful film of isolation and interconnectedness. I can already see by the previews that Vol 2 gets way more intense and dark but I quite liked the twisted coming of age story in Vol 1.

The Football Factory.Danny Dyer makes a not very convincing football hooligan, still a lot better than Elijah Woods plastic hooligan from Green Street.
