All I can say is that my life is pretty plain, I like watchin' the puddles gather rain.

Despite all my rage, I'm still just a rat in a cage

I've just seen 'The Room' and was completely unprepared for the spoon throwing, yelling silliness of it.

I found the misogyny of the film too much, but in terms of bad film making and atrocious acting, it is right up there.

Was still a more enjoyable experience then War Horse though.

Just saw the remake of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo.  Gritty, stylish, sexy - I am pretty hot for Rooney Mara.

Night and Fog. It was shorter than I expected, and I thought the music was rather inappropriate. But it's supposed to be sort of a classic documentary, innit?

I don't remember how long ago it was but I saw Anchorman. It took a few tries but when I made myself sit through it it was really funny. I liked the fight scene with the reporters. :D

i saw that one a while back. didn't really like it at the time because i identified as female and took a lot of offense to the sexist jokes.

It was indeed pretty sexist. It was supposed to be sexist, as the main character was a caricature of chauvinism, but I can see how it could be uncomfortable. Very crude stuff.

Yep. Though I had to scratch my head too because my best female friend absolutely loved it she said. I didn't even think it was that funny at all. Eh  :-\

I just watched Another Earth. It's a really neat sci-fi flick about this other Earth that appears on this night that the main character's life is changed by a horrible accident. Anyway over the course of four years the planet gets closer and closer until it's something visible in the horizon at all times and we discover that on Earth2 there are copies of everybody alive here. The main character is then thrown into questioning if her Earth2 counterpart made the same choices in life she did when she gets a chance to go to Earth2. Tripped me out.

I've always wanted to live in a neighborhood with you.

So let's make the most of this beautiful day,
Since we're together, we might as well say,
Would you be mine?
Could you be mine?
Won't you be my neighbor?" - Fred Rogers

I wonder how anyone gets to see the "shorts" that were nominated for an Academy Award this year?  Several of them looked interesting.

There are 'art houses' that show them.  Or be - or know - a member of the Academy, they get copies of a lot of that stuff.  But if you live in LA, they are shown because I think you have to see them in a theater to vote for them.

Thanks, Tekla.  I'm just too lazy to drive an hour or more through LA traffic to get into Hollywood.  I was hoping one of the cable channels might have specialized in that sort of thing.

I'm struggling with this. I really deeply loathe watching movies, but every time I make myself do it I'm glad I did. They're such an ingrained part of our culture, and some of them tell wonderful stories.

It took me about 7 sittings and a couple weeks to get through Anchorman. I go see weird independent films in the theatre sometimes, and that's slightly easier but still not something I ever look forward to. I used to think my attention span was the problem, but I can read for hours at a time, and I'm pretty good at throwing vast amounts of my life into the black hole of the internet. Eh.
