Terminator: Salvation. I finally got around to watching it at the weekend and, in spite of my reservations, I really enjoyed it.

Christian Bale was, well, Christian Bale. Brooding looks and super-serious intensity. Kinda what you'd expect. What surprised me, though, was Anton Yelchin as a young Kyle Reese. He really nailed it, and kinda looked like a young Michael Biehn to boot.

The story itself was largely forgettable, and seemed to have completely disregarded the 'Skynet isn't a single entity' concept from Rise Of The Machines, almost as though that film didn't exist (however being that only Kristanna Loken actually made that film worth watching, it's hardly surprising). The same themes ran through this one as through all the other films, which I liked (a Terminator coming to terms with it's Terminatorishness, being one of the 'good guys', and the vagueries of fate and time etc). And a lot of the obscure references made me smile, too. The most hilarious thing, however, was the attempt to model an original 'The Terminator' style Arnie using CGI and what looked like good ol' latex rubber. It was such a fail. The result looked like it should have been on Spitting Image. Having seen a documentary where stunt doubles for Arnie show the fake chins they get stuck on, to give the impression of Arnie's distinctive facial shape... all I can say is that the effort in Terminator: Salvation would have looked more realistic if they'd stuck chins all over its face instead.

Finally I don't like that they didn't use the Terminator theme music, either. But rather an imitation of it with slightly different notes. That theme is iconic.

Oh well. Overall, I enjoyed it quite a lot more than I thought I would.

That would make sense.  From what I remember my parents telling me, movies either come out there before the US or they come out after the US depending on the movie in question.

I wish I could see a movie in the UK again, at least in England.  They have the best theatres ever and have this big lounge chair things that you can pay a little extra to sit in...At least they did at the theatre in Norwich.

I'm seeing "The Avengers" on Monday with some gal friends of mine. :D  It's going to be a blast!

Hulk and now I'm watching the Incredible hulk. I think they kind of exaggerated all the military stuff though. Too many bombs...

Lucky! Avengers will be out Friday in my town. It'll probably be packed so I'll have to wait until Saturday or Sunday but damn I really want to see it.

I won't give any more away then this but There is an absolutely hilarious moment towards the end of the movie concerning the Hulk. You'll know what I mean when you see it.

CopyPasta from my Facebook post earlier:

Just back from The Avengers. By the power invested in me as a self-proclaimed anti-authoritarian, I hereby decree that henceforth and until his dying day, all superhero movies shall be written by Joss Whedon. Now how do you stamp a Facebook post with your signet ring?

What is this magical device? If I had such a thing, I might name it "My precious!"

"The Gate".  I love me some '80s horror films.

I wish I could see "The Avengers", but I'm piss broke.

I'm going to go see the Avengers today. Yay!
I finally decided to try watching Thor again (decided to temporarily forget almost everything I know about Norse mythology). The second and third times, I found I actually really like it. Ahem. To be more specific, I have a crush on Loki.
