My first doctor experience was interesting. I went to an endocrinologist. She was a nice little Indian lady. At first, I don't think she knew what to think of me. I presented as a male to her and explained all that I had been feeling and what I had done thus far and that both I and my psychiatrist thought it was time to proceed. I wanted to have tests done to see if anything was physically wrong with me that would explain why I felt this way. She ordered blood test, but was very reluctant. After this first visit, I remember being somewhat discouraged, but happy to have an order for a blood test.
My second visit revealed that I had 5alpha and she insisted upon giving me DHT. She said all I needed was to feel like a man and that these feelings I was having would go away. I was like hell no basically. Eventually, she said, I want you to go talk to your psychiatrist again and make sure that HRT is what you want. She began to get nicer at this point. She said things like, "I am only here to help you, I want whats best for you and what you truly want." She also gave me some advice on dealing with my family.
The third visit I went as a female. She was like, "you should have told me you were doing this all along!" She wrote me a script for HRT and that was that. I'll have my fourth visit in a month to see whats going on. Other than that, I actually really like my doctor now. She is a nice person and I feel like she does actually care about me!
