But I don't have a Mercedes, or a big house or new boobs every Christmas! I must not be a REAL woman. Or even a womyn. But I do have my sanity, my higher power, my sobriety and my spirituality and MY INDEPENDENCE, at one time, I was a prostitute too but I learned, in therapy, that the cost of what one loses in self esteem never makes up for the material things one acquires through selling out. I have have fewer material things than I have ever had in my life but I am happier now than I have ever been. And, really, I only pity people who place a high value in material things. It's a prison.

You are a fortunate woman. it is clear to see.

At least it's clear to you. Maybe the two of you could start a movement.

I must step in here and play devil's advocate for a moment. Although breast implants look great with clothes on, more often then not they don't look so good on their own. There is often a very distinct look and feel to breast implants. a person can loose much if not all sensitivity in the nipples as well. The big clincher to why this chick will always be o'natural, implants are only good for 12 - 15 years and then either need to be removed or replaced. In either case it is more time under a knife and more money just for boobs. It would be a lot less expensive and more fulfilling for women to simply accept and love their bodies instead.

my $.02

Idealistically, in a normally gendered woman, there is much merit in this statement. In fact, it could even be categorized as healthy.

For us, far less so and the reasons why should be self-evident [optimistically].

For me, BA was perceived as an absolutely essential correction to that which should have been existing, years ago.

Is my perception of the necessity for BA for me, indicative of an egregious character flaw, a gross mis perception of what it means to be female or otherwise, somehow 'beyond propriety'?

No, and it is shared by many of us, indeed.

Is my taking advantage of an opportunity to execute this essential step for me, when the opportunity was almost 'handed to me upon a silver platter' [I do indeed suspect the Hand of Providence, here] notwithstanding present life circumstances, accepting the risks with 'eyes fully open' innately and objectively wrong?

Absolutely not.

Are the opinions of others [divorced from those of those who care about and love me here] of either my pursuing that BA or even me, perceived as bearing any relevance whatsoever?

Uuuuuuhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh........................no:)

Is doing whatever will make YOU feel better and more complete as the female who you should have been, more happy, beyond 'propriety' [and whose propriety stands as objectively authoritative - ?] or innately wrong?

Absolutely not.

Mine do not look as 'natural' as I would have liked, but then, I'm only 5 days post-op. I do believe that I erred in size selection; I should have opted for a lesser magnitude augmentation.

But what is done, is done and I'll very gratefully live with what I have been blessed with.

People may have 'philosophical' [or downright puerile] objections to how another woman is executing or sequencing her transition, but outside of helpful, caring and loving [or simply just neutral] advice or counsel, criticisms and negative commentary need to be repressed::)

In fact, "Do it for the Gipper!"  :)

When it comes to BA I do not see a need for it since there are hormones available to give us natural breasts. BA, in my opinion is just one more way for an oppressive medical community to devalue us and make us believe we can be happy without corrective surgeries. If it is a call between suck-starting a pistol or getting fake boobs then by all means get them and enjoy them.

For living proof that boobs don't make the woman look at Kate Moss and Gwen Staffani. Neither woman has breasts larger than an A cup and they are sex objects of our American society. This just plays into the ideal that the boobs make the woman. If that is the case then please consult a breast cancer survivor who has lost her breasts and see what her opinion is.

I know not everyone will agree with my point of view but I do want to make it known that BA is not the grand savior of self-esteem that it is made out to be.

You sure look good, Renae.

Honey, I am not trying to be terse with you or to slam you. Please know this.

Our perceptions differ, that's all.

For example, I'm [ahem  :embarrassed: ] 51. Given such an age, the projection for acceptable breast development is...dubious.

Hypothetically, I may never surpass a large "A" in end stage development. I am not willing to settle for such; this 'component' of my transition is far too important to me.

To others who have no issue with such I say, "BRAVO!!  :) More power to you!!  ;D" and with sincerity.

Whatever makes YOU happy and CONTENT.

I know you aren't trying to slam me at all. I just enjoy a nice healthy friendly debate over opposing view points is all. I do have an ability to come across as a total bitch at times though.

Renae, with that haircut and the way you look in that picture, you could TOTALLY pass as Karen O. of the Yeah Yeah Yeah's. That's a compliment in case anyone doesn't know the YYY :) Meghan

Thank you for the compliment. I do appreciate it but lets keep the conversation geared toward the topic ;)

If BA makes a woman feel more accepting of her body whether GG or TG, I say go for it. It's something I don't think I'll ever do. I would let hormones give me what I could get and that would be enough for me. For some people, large breasts just make them feel more "comfortable" in their own skin. I don't understand it, but I don't need to. Whatever makes you happy :)

As do I. Far less so now, but at times...

But I sensed this not in what you posted, neither did it enter the mind.

I had in mind certain others, but not you, hon.
