Nice starting point with your hair.. i started growing mine out from a shaved head.

Your forhead looks very masculine, probably worse from the side but you didnt show that angle.
From these front photos the eyebrows are a huge giveaway, but your probably not ready to have them shaped, and you shouldnt unless your fulltime because a guy with fem eyebrows gets rlly akward looks from strangers.

Your chin and jaw is very masculine as well, your kneck size is huge, and the way the skin hangs over your face is in a masculine way, with all the weight around the outsides of your mouth.

You are an FFS candidate for sure.

whats wrong with being a male with very shapely eyebrows ? i find it weird that so many trans people are obssesed with conforming entirely to to whatever gender that they are presenting as, when they present as male before its an entirely normal male with no androgyny or gender variation , and when they present female its an entirely normal female too

Just Kate

The picture is my current profile pic.

I cannot believe I'm actually posting in this thread considering the fact I never thought I'd do any form of transition ever again.  I'm not sure how far I'll go, but I started this week.

Today is day 0 of my transition and this is a pic of day 0.  No make up, no girl clothes, just me...  I realize I've got several hurdles to overcome and my hair to grow out, but I wanted to get some feedback on if anyone thought I could pass eventually and what I could do barring surgery, hormones, to get there for now.

I'll try to get a less fuzzy pic in the future.
Ill no longer be defined by my condition. From now on, I'm just, Kate.

My boyfriend and I went to a bar, which was new to me since I've really only been getting out when going to my therapist. Both of us agree that I don't entirely pass, but that I at least seem to be improving. Lighting is critical - I think these pics are flattering, but I went through several cell phone pics at the bar that caught and emphasized more of my masculine features. Kinda depressed me a little, but I wasn't too bothered since it was a gay bar anyway. He thinks I look a bit like Sarah Palin. Hrmff.

Also... I hate wearing a wig.
My eyebrows are too thick =/

Bubbles you look beautiful! honestly I couldnt tell without looking closely, though i know what you mean by having the right lighting. I love your wig and would love to have that style myself. (i have to save up before i buy a new wig). Hopefully your hair does grow soon though, I know the difficulties that you face in wearing them. (especially the itching). Good luck to you! ;)

You definitely are still in like a clockable range if someone knows physical gender differences and is paying attention but also you should be passable after hormone effects!

You could try contouring w/ makeup until then to take some bulk from the jaw. And I know it is probably hard but it would help you to gain a little fat.

And yes they are not very visible in the pics but eyebrows are extremely important. At least your wig looks pretty good, usually wigs look... wig-y, though obviously there is a difference in pics and real life.

Good luck  :)

Yep. The wig overall looks fairly natural, but sometimes I think it doesn't quite fit my face. I'm also working on getting a little fatter... but taking it easy since I don't want to overdo it. I think, after the results of HRT are more conclusive, I'll have to have nose/jaw (chin/mandible) work. I'll probably have that done at the time of a trachea shave. That'll hopefully be the coup de grĂ¢ce to any sense of inadequacy.

Anita, you won't have any troubles at all with passing. When I first saw it I thought: "Well, I can still see the man in her face a little bit, but it looks like she had very feminine features before she started HRT." Then I saw that you haven't started HRT yet. Off to a hell of a start.

Pre-HRT. This is my first attempt at doing makeup, so it still needs a lot of tuning, but it's a start. And no need for anyone to butter things up for me, constructive criticism is always a good thing.

Freya, your chin is masculine as others have noted but your forehead you can hide somewhat by changing hair styles. Later on you might want to consider a scalp advancement or hair transplants in that frontal area.

You have beautiful cheekbones though! And your mouth looks very feminine. If I were you I would not do anything about FFS until I had been on HRT for a 1-2 years at least. Let the hormones do their thing as lots of your facial aspects are likely to change under HRT. Skin texture and tightness will change under HRT. Also, electrolysis or laser will further change the skin, particularly along the jawline and the lips. Male skin is thicker because it has to support the heavy beard follicles. As those are removed and as HRT works as well, the thickness of skin around the mouth can change further bringing out the lips. Once you are much further along would be the time to evaluate serious FFS options to finish things.

Oh yeah, smile!

Well since I am sort of new here, and I didn't feel posting in the Fabulous section would be well, so fabulous :)
I am attaching a pic from last night my great friend took of me in dreadfully low light, however I like the pic for its whimsical darkness.
So here it is, hope you like:

You already pass  ;)

This is without make-up because I don't have any that is the right shade and I'm too scared to go outside to buy any. My hair is tucked down the head-hole part of my shirt because I sleep a lot during the day and just take on a shirt when I wake up (been up half an hour or an hour before pic). Also about a days worth of beard growth, though it might not be very visible on the pictures.
I keep my eyebrows a bit thicker to not get strange stares when I do go outside, and my hair is just... a mess.
I'm also trying to figure out how on earth I'm gonna fix the hair at ear height... if I just cut it, it looks really bad because it's straight... so I don't know what to do about it really -.-

22.5 years old at 2.5 months HRT...
I think my issues are that my chin is too broad, not round and pointy enough. My jaw line is too round, making it look more masculine. My eyes are too high up, too close together and maybe too small, making the space between my eyes and lips really long, empty, awkward and masculine. Might be something I've missed... it's hard for me to figure out exactly what makes me look so masculine. About my nose I'm not sure if it's a give away, because my older sister has pretty much the same one.
I won't ever be able to afford FFS (maybe trough a loan, but that isn't gonna happen in a long time), would it be possible for me to pass with just make up, hair, eyebrows and maybe HRT time? Or is FFS just simply a must?

Muuu you are way too hard on yourself sweety.

You already pass easily and without makeup. Your chin is fine, your jaw is fine, you have no hard features. You are only 2.5 months on hormones, give it time to work and based on these photos you won't even need ffs.

Not every woman looks like a supermodel, do not compare yourself to those silly ideas of what a woman's features "should" look like because it's a load of crap. You look great already and i'm not just saying that because this is a support forum  ;)

Let's see -small face/chin/small nose/good hair.

I see a very feminine face, and that's without makeup.

The only thing is your brows, as you know, are low but that is very easily fixed.

From the side your chin looks a tad more masculine but you would suit a layered cut at chin length.

For your brows just get a brow pencil and darken over the hair on top of your brow to get the right shape, then start plucking along the bottom to shape them. There should be really light hairs on top of your brow that you can darken in. My advise would be just to take the time to gradually shape your brows. Look at the other women when you're out and about to see how theirs are shaped as a guide.

As for makeup... just walk in with confidence and ask! Ask for makeup that is light, like you aren't wearing any makeup, then you can ease into it.

Muuuu, if you're not already, start working on your voice asap. I'd say by 6 months you're going to struggle to pass as a boy and depending on what your town/city is like, that could get you into trouble. You are going to do very very well on hrt.
