So, I just had my feet measured again and I know this has been hashed out over and over again, but...

My shoe size has dropped from a 10.5W womens to an 8.5W

It blew my mind!  So I decided to get few pair for an early christmas present to myself!

Congrats. I have a pair of boots like that but they have more of a heel.

I haven't the slightest clue!  I just realized the other day how much I was swimming in my shoes, so I thought I'd go get them properly measured again.  I wouldn't have believed that I could drop that much size in 6 months.

I like those heels!

I hear ya... I was an 8.5-9 in mens before I started...

Now I have 7.5 in womens that fit. That's 3+ shoe sizes. I'm at the point where I'm like "Okay stop shrinking!!" because I'm tired of shrinking out of my shoes!!!

I don't really feel like I've lost any muscle, I HAVE lost about 14 lbs from cutting calories.. but that's about it

Do not worry about it. There will be somebody along in a minute to tell you that such a thing cannot happen since they have not experienced it personally. I kid you not - I have seen posters on here say that.

Personally, I believe you.

I dropped from a UK10 to a UK8. I still have my size 10 heels that were a perfect fit when I got them and now have a substantial amount of heel behind my foot. I actually had to alter the straps on them to make them fit again. My size 10 court shoes have the same problem except, being court shoes, there is not much I can do about them.

@galena and Alaina did you find your shoe size shrunk while you were losing muscle?? Because I haven't lost any muscle yet.

It's possible. I have lost quite a bit of muscle. I've also lost a couple pounds the past couple weeks too that I can't seem to get back. Much of it may be water loss, too... my feet seem to be all bone with no squishyness to them. Standing on my feet hurts WAY more than it used to because I think there's less tissue between the bone and the skin.

Out of curiosity, I decided to measure my height.  I've lost nearly an inch and 1/2 in height.  WOW I'm pretty much blown away.

Woah woah woah, can someone explain to me what process it is that you folks are taking to achieve the shrinking of feet? Is it HRT? I may not be interested in going female, but by golly, if I could make my feet smaller so I could fit into more unisex shoes I would jump on it in an instant, haha. I hate finding shoes I love but they are never available in my sizes because they market them geared towards woman and tiny people

That's really my only change?  I think Alaina is right, likely a shrinkage of connective tissue...  I'm guessing it is a majority muscle and hormone regulated soft tissue?

Nobody knows. It does NOT happen for everyone and there seems to be no consistency to the amount of change. Current hypotheses are:

1. Weight loss - if you loose several stone then you lose fat on your feet and your feet are less 'splayed out' because they support less weight than previously.

2. Muscle loss - many lose muscle on HRT. Although the bones in the feet do not change, perhaps connective muscles and tissues between the bones shrink.

3. Both 1 & 2 above

4. None of the above. We are all delusional and fooling ourselves

5. Aliens - our feet were abducted and replaced by ones exactly the same but two sizes smaller. You cannot figure why they are doing this because their way of thinking is so alien that it makes no sense to us.

Personally I like number 5, but I go with number 3.

An amazing amount of shoulder width is muscle, not bone. My shoulders are now of a similar width to my wife and daughters whereas I was previously much, much wider in the shoulders.

Some time back I put on an old male shirt of mine and the shoulder seams were a couple of inches down my arms. I have been quite surprised by how much I have shrank overall.

Height-wise, I am still 5'8" so no change there.

I agree with epoch, except i am currently in my third month of hrt, i really super duper wish that my feet would shrink from a 11 womens to like at least an 8 womens. As im sure you all know, it is impossible to find amazingly cute heels that fir an 11 womens, I was told i could try to bind but looked at the health risks and decided against it. Im sorry about any misspellings or incorrect punctuation, im at work and have to hurry to type this.

I hope it happens for you!  I nearly (literally) jumped out of my shoes for joy when I realized my shoe selection exploded with new possibilities!  :D

Oh I'm jealous of you all. Right now I'm wearing a little smaller than what the OP wore pre-HRT, I hope I can get down some. I'd love to be a little shorter too. The downside is that last time I got men's shoes I realized I had been get sizes that were technically two sizes above my actual feet in everything except width. So I got the one pair of men's shoes in the entire store that actually fit my feet. ::)  Even if they get smaller I might still not have an easy time with the shoes.

My old mens shoes were falling off my feet when I threw them away a couple months ago. I'm about a 6 in mens now, I think. Maybe even a 5.5! They'd be hard to find I'm sure.
