Abby, you are looking great. The first time I went out dressed was to my therapist. You must have felt that was definitely encouraging for both you and your therapist.

Today is Diwali in India, all kinds of festivities, and lot of firecrackers. I was with my friends (my favorite couple), their place, celebrating diwali traditionally. (I closed my ears during some heavy crackers :P, because I am a bit scared of them)

AI chi hua hua, that is all I will say.

My boyfriend and I went to a bar, which was new to me since I've really only been getting out when going to my therapist. Both of us agree that I don't entirely pass, but that I at least seem to be improving. Lighting is critical - I think these pics are flattering, but I went through several cell phone pics at the bar that caught and emphasized more of my masculine features. Kinda depressed me a little, but I wasn't too bothered since it was a gay bar anyway. He thinks I look a bit like Sarah Palin. Hrmff.

Also... I hate wearing a wig.
My eyebrows are too thick =/

(fyi, 5 months HRT)

I wouldn't sell yourself short, your a stunning lady.  Thick eyebrows can be cute!

When I go out I don't completely pass either because of attitude, but I think its a process of accepting your own body.  Passing is not looking like a bombshell, but giving people no doubt about what you are through confidence ^.^.

I sort of learned that from a friend in rl who is also transitioning, but visually saw how people saw her due to her own confidence.

This is without make-up because I don't have any that is the right shade and I'm too scared to go outside to buy any. My hair is tucked down the head-hole part of my shirt because I sleep a lot during the day and just take on a shirt when I wake up (been up half an hour or an hour before pic). Also about a days worth of beard growth, though it might not be very visible on the pictures.
I keep my eyebrows a bit thicker to not get strange stares when I do go outside, and my hair is just... a mess.
I'm also trying to figure out how on earth I'm gonna fix the hair at ear height... if I just cut it, it looks really bad because it's straight... so I don't know what to do about it really -.-

22.5 years old at 2.5 months HRT...
I think my issues are that my chin is too broad, not round and pointy enough. My jaw line is too round, making it look more masculine. My eyes are too high up, too close together and maybe too small, making the space between my eyes and lips really long, empty, awkward and masculine. Might be something I've missed... it's hard for me to figure out exactly what makes me look so masculine. About my nose I'm not sure if it's a give away, because my older sister has pretty much the same one.
I won't ever be able to afford FFS (maybe trough a loan, but that isn't gonna happen in a long time), would it be possible for me to pass with just make up, hair, eyebrows and maybe HRT time? Or is FFS just simply a must?

Wow, you look exactly like one of my female cousins, especially in that top picture.

You will pass 100% without makeup, especially with some brow shaping, after a little while longer on HRT imo!

Thanks for the comments... I'm somewhat confused though, I've been very frustrated with how masculine my face is, especially this last week. I just felt quite good one day, without anxiety and hopless feelings, so I thought I'd see what others thought. So I posted here, wanting to hear other peoples perspective, and make up my mind about things, because I want solid facts and opinions so that my decisions can be somewhat justified.
Yeah, I'm not sure if these comments are out of pity... I really hope they aren't, because giving false hope is really a horrible thing...

Well, thanks again.
I don't think the comments come from pity. You actually do have a good start for how short a time you have been on hrt.

We are our own worst critics, muuu. You'll be just fine.

Seriously the comments are not out of pity. You look very feminine already and HRT should do amazing things with your face... your going to be gorgeous!

I haven't posted in a while feeling.... rather dysphoric this morning.

You already have nice high cheekbones going for you, and your face already has pretty soft features. I'm sure HRT will convincingly help you pass.

When I feel dysphoric, I do this exact same thing. It's always nice to have reassurance from others when yourself just refuses to give it.

I hope no one minds me posting here as I'm really curious to get a female perspective on this. I'm androgynous in appearance but I'm trying to get read more as male. Right now, 98% of the time I get read as female, so I'm wondering what totally reads as female in just my facial features? Thanks in advance :)

I'm guessing it would probably be a mixture of your hair and cheekbones.. maybe it's just me.

It's kind of hard to tell from that picture, but for me personally, I think it's your mouth, but I might be the only one to say that. :P

Hi insideontheoutside,
I actually think you look male/andro. The female aspects are the facial padding, and total lack of facial hair. I def would have said male if asked. Dont worry bout the cheek bones, I never had probs passing as a dude and mine look similiar to yours.
Ofc thats an opinion from juat one pic, good luck!

Thanks everyone, I appreciate the comments and feedback. T isn't really a possibility for me, so I'm kind of stuck working with what I've got. I actually do have a small amount of facial hair but it's not very noticeable as it's mostly at the edges of my chin and under it. So someone would have to look really close. I've dyed my eyebrows before so I might try that again. I'm completely incompetent with make up lol.
