First Event 2013 Transgender Conference Releases Full Program and Announces New Entertainment
First Event 2013, held January 23-27, 2013, at the Boston Peabody Marriott,releases their 2013 workshop, entertainment and speaker schedule for their annual conference. A special program for partners of transgender persons has also been released.

PRLog (Press Release) - Dec. 31, 2012 - First Event 2013, one of the world's leading conferences for the transgender community and their allies, has released their full program of workshops and entertainment for the annual conference. The conferencer is held on January 23-27, 2013, at the Boston Peabody Marriott. The theme for this year's conference is "We've Only Just Begun".

First Event's 2013 workshop schedule includes covering a wide variety of topics including:

You are welcome to apply for a scholarship.  Many of the vendors DO support the trans community by providing money for scholarships to the event.

If you'd like to show up at either 8:30am Friday or Saturday or both, we can put you to work as a volunteer and give you free admission into any of the workshops you would like to attend.  If your financial situation is an impediment, sent us an email.  We will try to help.  workshops@firstevent.us

So it looks to me if I wanted to go just 1 day, say Saturday, for the purposes of socializing with other people I still have to pay $40 to get in? Or is it possible to show up and just walk around? It's not like i need to get anything done, but I figure it's a safe venue and an opportunity to connect with the community and someone like me to come out of hiding

If  you wanted to go for one day, then yes you could pay the $40 or if you are short on cash, volunteer and get in for free.  I recommend the day of wellness and beauty on Thursday which is a real bargain for all the free spa treatments you can sign up for.  However as far as workshops -- Friday usually has more MTF programming and Saturday usually has more FTM programming, but there is a bit for everyone on each day.
