I've been on HRT for almost two months. I knew about the possibility of uncontrollable crying, no surprise, that has happened often in the last month. I'm also finding that I'll sometimes start giggling/laughing uncontrollably and can't stop. Or start laughing and crying simultaneously and not able to stop. I welcome the emotional changes of E, however it has occasionally been somewhat embarrassing when this happens in public.  :embarrassed:

Any one else experience this? Or is it just me?   :D

Yep uncontrollable crying -check-

Making boss feel bad when he gets upset at me -check-

Smiling brighter, and giggling more because I don't feel a need to hide it anymore -check-

Not just an isolated incident.

At dinner the other evening, I attempted to tell the others guests of this silly game I've seen lately. It refers to the thread here, where you insert the phrase "in your pants" after a song title.

It took at least four attempts to complete the phrase, before I totally broke up, much to my embarrassment. Thank god I'm known as a looney.

When I "came out" I cried so much, I ran out of tears, but that didn't stop me. Didn't know you could cry without tears.

Enjoyed this one

Very very normal part of every girl's life! We just go through it a little later than other girls, but we catch up fast. I love how easy it is to cry and to laugh.

I wasn't as surprised as some by the emotional highs/lows/outbursts/sunbursts because I grew up with three sisters - who all went through this big time as they progressed through puberty. The uncontrollable giggling and sudden tearbursts are natural and healthy.

The emotional lability doesn't go away either -- it is a wonderful part of being a woman -- we just develop better control over how we express it as we mature in our womanhood. Practice makes perfect.

I embrace it all; uncontrollable giggling, laughter, tears, crying, moods, etc. Finally being able to openly express my full range of emotions is much better than suppressing or burying them, as I did for way too long.

At least I'm not the only one I expected the mood swings the crying. But the giggling/laughing caught me off guard. It happens at the worst times like when I'm at the gym on the treadmill or at work. But at least I know I'm not going crazy.

I've been on hormones for just under 4 months and I spent last week crying mostly and not even really sure why so I can relate there, but I haven't really found myself laughing out of no where. I think overall I have been happier but that's because my emotions have been heightened and are more extreme now, but it seems like others have always found themselves giggling out of no where, so I'm in the minority in that one.

When I was in the final stages of being male, I realized how poisonous testosterone was to "me", and ran from it as fast as I could...

Now that I'm female, I am learning how magical it is to be able to laugh and cry seemingly on a whim...if even that! It's so empowering (if I may use a cliche lol) to be able to express emotion without bottling it up.

THANK GAWD FOR HORMONES!! (As long as they are the right ones for you...)
...I think for most of us it is a futile effort to try and put this genie back in the bottle once she has tasted freedom...

Since I started HRT, a lot of people have commented on how much happier I am (which is true). Random strangers often remark on how cheerful I am, which is nice. I cried more than "normal" for a man before HRT, but now I cry almost randomly... But overall my mental health has improved immeasurably.

Its not cruel, its survival instinct  ;D

Okay, but when a tiger attacks you and your instinct is to cry, don't come crying to me.  :P

Yep, I agree.  I seem to control it a bit better now-a-days. I can see it coming too whereas before it was always creeping up on me. Not that I really cared that much. It was very (obviously) cathartic. But, there were times where I was in boy mode and my "buddies" didn't know what to think. LOL

Oh my gosh, Z, that was me all over!  It seemed like every emotion was magnified.

The funny thing is, that even after I had to stop HRT, once the door had been opened, it stayed open.
