A University of Wisconsin class stopped in Philadelphia Monday on a two-week tour of historic sites in the "gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender equal-rights movement," the Philadelphia Inquirer reported. Among other activities, the students reenacted the nation's first "gay rights" protest, something that "proved to be a moving experience," the newspaper said. Protests are now banned on Independence Mall, but the park service decided at the last minute to allow the demonstration as a historic reenactment, the Inquirer reported.
