Hi,

I can not explain how happy I am, I came out to my father first a few weeks ago and he is still in denial so wanted to keep it hush hush.

I want to go full-time as soon as possible so I decided to tell my mum finally, he thought she was going to flip out.

She was incredibly supportive, she kissed me and said she is happy I told her and that she would help me if I needed it to afford surgery. And that she always wanted a daughter and now she has one!!!

I thought she was going to have a hard time with it, went way better than I expected and now I wish I did this years ago  ;D

Anyway just thought I'd share, goes to show you never know how people will react!

This is great news!

It's always great when parents are supportive!  ;D
"For transpeople, using the right pronoun is NOT simply a 'political correctness' issue. It's core to the entire struggle transpeople go through. Using the wrong pronoun means 'I don't recognize you as who you are.' It means 'I think you're confused, delusional, or mentally I'll.'. It means 'you're not important enough for me to acknowledge your struggle.'"

My jealousy readings are off the charts! I guess I need bigger charts.  :P

Congratulations!!! My mom kinda of had the same reaction as your dad is having but she is starting to come around. But the way your mom took it sounds awesome!

Aww... That's great!

It's the complete opposite for me. My mom always wanted a son, and I'm that 'son'. So transitioning goes against her wishes and it makes the situation all of the more complicated. I wonder if she'd be more accepting if that wasn't in the way.

Congratulations Aleah! I'm decades older than you, and even though I knew  I was basically hated my entire life by my mom for being born male, once I realized I couldn't exist another day as a male impersonator, my mom and I have had a whole new relationship as mother and daughter for the last sixteen months! These have been the happiest months of my life, by far. I told my parents at sixteen I was in the wrong body and wanted to live as a girl, but they just sent me to a psychiatrist. Now my mom says that if they really knew how terribly unhappy I was they would have let me live as a girl, but I have my doubts. I'm 58 years old and I told them in 1971! It's still a nice thought though, and her newfound love for me has healed so many wounds it's impossible to put into words. I'm sure you've probably had some of the same emotions. Once again, congratulations!
These three years have been the best of my entire life
ones I've been able to live without lying
and the only time I've had since the age of twelve
I haven't constantly thought about dying

Gratz!!!

My mom always wanted a daughter too, but she apparently didn't get one. Then she said she wanted me to be a masculine son to take care of her, but she didn't get that either.

When I break it to her, which won't be until I've been on hormones several months because she handles that kind of news horribly, I'm just gonna blame it on mah birthmark. She's buddhist so I'll just say I'm the reincarnation of her last aborted daughter come to punish her or whatever.

Mothers and daughters really do have a special bond, and it sounds like you have already established that. Congratulations to both of you.  Mums are special.
