Hi everyone,

I'd like to introduce myself. I'm at the very beginning of my transition and just visited my GP for the second time. He told me to get an appointment to an endo to run the pre-diagnostics for HRT. He said that he may write me the referral letter to start HRT at our fourth meeting which may be in March or April. I'm so excited to finally start this journey to my true self. After so many years of suppressing my feelings about my gender dysphoria I finally came out to my parents and some of my friends. I was so scared at first, but everyone around me is accepting me and very supportive. I expected the worst, but my worries were unfounded. There are a lot of people, who don't know about me, but as time passes, the coming outs become easier. There is one thing that I'm really worried about and I hope that some of you can give me some advice. I'm actually writing my diploma thesis and I fear that no one will hire me because of my transsexualism. Paying out of pocket for my GP, HRT, hair removal, name change and maybe even SRS is not an issue. But what will come after that? Shall I write in my application for employment about my transsexualism or not? I hope that there is someone out there in a similar situation as I am who is willing to share their experiences.

I do not know about the situation in Germany but in the USA most big companies have policies in place that support transgender people.

What is your specialty?

In general I would say to keep your GID away from your job application, they would be hiring because of your skills not because your gender.

There is a mountain of information, resources and friendship waiting for you here, you just need to jump in start talking and ask any question you like. You're quite safe here and we are very accepting.

So glad to hear your plan is working out as well as it is. Make the journey that much easier. Don't be too concerned about your fears. The only thing to fear,is fear itself. It means,False Evidence Appearing Real.

Welcome.

As Peky mentioned most places have rules in place to protect minorities. I would never make an issue of being TG, transitioning or whatever in a job application. No ones business but yours. But check your local laws.

In Australia, we have no need to mention gender, race, age, religion etc on any job application. There is no need.

I am a senior academic and I have had no problems what so ever in being accepted in my professional life, or any other part of life in fact.

So don't get too worried about that part of life for now.

Thanks for your advice. If I won't find a job in Germany, going to Australia or the USA is definitely an option. Maybe I need to improve my english, but that's a different story.
