Thanks Tazia.  This is great information.  I LOVE Lucy; she seriously knows what she's talking about when it comes to the facts of corseting.  I would consider Lucy an authority.

I would, however, add one additional piece to the information that she's offered here.  She speaks about the effort and work involved with waist training and reshaping the ribcage.  What I think she may have glossed over just a little bit is that for some of us, tightlacing is simply a joy.  For me, wearing a very tight laced corset for 14 to 18 hours a day 7 days a week is no effort and not work at all; it's a joy and a pleasure.  Perhaps I'm in the minority here, but I think it can't be overstated that there is real value to bringing a sense of fun, playfulness and pleasure to the process of corseting and waist training.  If it feels like work, and it feels like "suffering-to-be-beautiful", then one runs a pretty high risk of feeling disappointed with waist training in the long run.

Corset for the joy of it.  Waist train because it's fun and sexy and joyful to do it, and the the overall outcome over time is much more likely to be joyous and satisfying.

Anyway, that's just my 2 cents.

Hugs and thank you!
Miharu

Oh perf!  That was exactly what I wanted to know.  Thanks Tazia!  Do any of y'all know what the permanence style corsets looks like exactly?  That was made clearish, but not totally.

It would be a corset based on your measurements. There are all kinds of brands you can buy from. I have one coming from Puimond within the week, and that one is an hour glass long line (long hips and straight bones). The ones that make a wasp waist are not going to give you any reduction to the ribcage, so it is best to get a corset with spring steel bones, and not spiral steel. Because spiral is too flexible.

Hiya Jen,

I would recommend taking a look at Timeless Trends.  Their corsets are in a few basic styles, but in many, many colors and fabrics.  They are very affordable.  The quality is extremely high.  They stand behind their corsets (guaranteed for life).  Theirs are intended for daily use, for tight lacing, and they are of the tapered type that Lucy talks about.  Of the off-the-rack, moderately priced corsets available out there, I don't think that you could do a whole lot better for your money than Timeless Trends.

Check out Lucy's reviews of the Timeless Trends corsets on her You Tube channel.  I think you'll find that she would agree.

It sounded like she was saying it doesn't go over your whole figure, just the ribs or something?  Idk...

I use to wear one every day for about 1.5 years,
then I went to tight with it and broke a rib loose (it hurt lots),
took over a year to heal and never ended up going back to them,
I do miss them, so don't push things to hard...

Nice!

I have to admit, I love my corsets! I'm not as busty as I would like, and my rib cage seems large, so wearing a corset really accentuates my curves and gives me a much more feminine silhouette.

I know its much maligned, but as long as you do train your body sensibly and slowly, it shouldn't be a problem.

Tazia, nice looking corset. Does it show from under clothes?

I'm interested in corsets...

Obviously for best effects, one should lose weight...but can a corset (properly fitted and worn) help hide some "blub about the waist"?

...I think for most of us it is a futile effort to try and put this genie back in the bottle once she has tasted freedom...

@ Beth It can hide it yes, but it could move it too, like you could end up with a bit of a "Kangaroo pouch" as Lucy has called it.

@ Penny, I went with Puimond. He seemed pretty renowned. :D

@ Henna, I have yet to wear it under something. :)

None of the underbust corsets I wear show when I wear clothes over them.

Hi Tazia;

I just started some Deportment training in Melbourne this week, having been recommended to see someone to get some advice on posture and walking in heels etc. One of the first things my deportment therapist recommended was that I should get a decent boned corset and wear on a daily basis to get my posture right and to accentuate my waist line and to give better support to my budding breasts.

She recommended a beautiful store in Melbourne called Siren Doll. (see http://www.sirendoll.com.au)  The girls there were just awesome and fitted me with a real nice red and green fluorescent over bust corset. I started wearing in 2 days ago and saw my beauty therapist this morning for an IPL session and she thought the corset was just gorgeous, but felt it needed to be tightened up a bit more to push my bobs up and out. She did this and under my dress (without a bra I now have a great shape.)

Giggle !! I could resist and put on  a G string, black stockings and a black suspender belt this morning and I looked great

Wearing in though has definitely changed my posture.

Interestingly and my deportment lady said this would happen, it also means its much easier to walk with a slight sway in my hips especially when I am in heels. Its just feels so more natural whereas before I had to accentuate the hip movement, now my hips seem to just move quite naturally without me thinking about it. My tummy is definitely; flatter, but the amazing thing is my waist is in by 2 inches.

The corset also forces me to sit up straighter and to take smaller steps when walking.

I see now why my deportment therapist wanted me to get it early on.

Hugs
