Since you guys are really hitting it off, if he's a real friend and a good man he'll hear you saying "Hey man, can you not put me in choke holds? I'm not very comfortable with people touching my neck" and he'll hear you, apologize and say he won't do it again. If he's less than a good man, well, better to find that out now then when he's got you in a death grip and won't let go. =)

What happened to the good old fake gunfights (or fake swordfights, for that matter)? All my guy friends have been known to engage in a bit of mock fighting at times, but not strangling. We always stop if someone tells us to stop and it's all in good fun, seeing who can ham it up the most and re-enact the coolest action flick stunts.

These guys are rough but not tough. B is a self-proclaimed proud beta-male... for crying out loud! I can actually take it and dish it out with the best of them and have no trouble with it; I enjoy it as a matter of fact, it comes naturally. But the strangling seemed to be more than that--just too far. That's why I posted here to find out if guys regularly went "that far." Bloody noses, fine. I can deal with that. Strangling though--that could easily go wrong, real fast, and it doesn't allow me an equal fighting chance. I honestly think this is just one of A's weird things I have to break him of.

I'm 20 and work at a restaurant. It gets rowdy. I have no problem with it.

I work in a restaurant too and I'm constantly beat up on (in a friendly way) cause I'm the smallest one in there. Anytime someone takes it too far I just tell them to back off and they listen.

Many of my friends and acquaintances are cis males, and I only can think of two that would do two that would try to pull anything even close to that. It isn't ok, in fact, it's assault. I would try talking to him about it firmly but in a calm manner. If he doesn't back off, your best bet honestly would to just avoid him altogether.
