That's an exaggeration, I have facial hair but you have to be about 2 inches from my face to see it.

I'm 22 years old and I am tired of looking like I am 13-16 years old

I also have like no body hair, most women have hairier legs then i do

I really really hate this, I am 2.5 years on T. And yes, my T levels are normal.

Am I just doomed to never be hairy and look like a kid forever?

Puberty takes years, dude. How often are you shaving? Even if there's only a little, you need to start a daily shaving routine. And if you have something that keeps people looking like a kid, bottle it! You'll be a rich man! Hugs, Devlyn

I hate to tell the Delvin, but Delvin is wrong but shaving doesn't help grow hair. OTOH, I like shaving and shave my peach fuzz and anything that needs plucking as plucking feels womanly.

However, are you sure you don't have a little Native Am. in your ancestry, various races don't make as much hair as Caucasians. Also puberty takes awhile and you don't see many 18 year olds with full beards. You're whatever age you are going on 17 or 18.

Hey Elijah you're not alone. I've been on T for a little over 3 years, my levels are normal and our facial hair situations sound pretty similar.

I'm not a huge fan of facial hair on myself personally but it'd still be nice in theory to be able to grow some. It bums me out sometimes and I often wonder if I'm the only one as well. I can grow a pretty scraggly neckbeard, but that's about it....barely any mustache/sideburns hairs. So yeah I  feel pretty pathetic at times.

I do have some native American ancestry, but I'm only about 1/8 so I don't know if that really has much bearing at all.

Hey Elijah, your not alone. I'm a little over 2 years on T and I can't grow much facial hair either. It's noticeable, but it probably looks weird b/c one side of my face has dark facial hair and the other side is light. But it takes like a month to be noticeable. I know it sucks to be that long on T  for that long and not be able to grow much facial hair. I hope soon more facial hair comes in for you.  :)

Ah, but I didn't say that shaving causes hair growth. (Full disclosure, I have posted that before.) The best time to master the technique of dragging sharp steel across your face is before there's a tough, scraggly beard fighting back.Plus, a daily shaving ritual is a guy thing, so Elijah might consider picking it up. Never too young to start, google "father son shaving" and check out the pictures! Hugs, Devlyn

me and my cis brother dont have facial hair and we are both in our late teens. my dad didnt have facial hair until after college so i think its genetics. also me and my brother have more hair on our legs then my dad.

Hey Elijah,

Try not to worry (TOO much atleast).
Im over 3 and a half years on T, and I have little bits of stubble on my chin, but thats it. I cant grow even one hair on my upper lip, sideburn area, jawline, cheek etc. And Im DESPERATE to get facial hair, I cant wait :D (And Im also 22). I got ID'd just this weekend as they thought I was under 18...
But if you think about it, guys at school hardly had facial hair, and toward the end of school, age 16+ theyre starting to grow bits in (with exceptions ofcourse. Theres guys with crazy beards, and ones with no hair) and like has been said already, it takes years for guys to be growing facial hair.
If a guy has hit puberty at 12, and at 17 bits of hair are coming in, thats 5 years. We just have to be patient, which can be highly frustrating! :p Especially when there are guys a year on T or something, with beards. Im happy for them but jealous. But just give it time, mate. Im fighting the same struggle :p

I think im to reach my second year on T this summer even when I dont remember yet when I started.
I got little too no facial hair, its all very small light fuzz and it just started very slowly to turn abit darker but still, pretty much nothing.

hair seams to have alot to do with your genes. some transguys is very hairy and some arnt.

Thanks everyone, I am glad I am not alone.  I think one of the things that makes it worse is seeing guys who are 3 months on T and have a total beard.

Joe.

Just like puberty, it's different for everyone. Don't put yourself down about it. I'm pre T so I can't feedback on personal experience but there are loadsa guys who don't have beards for years.

Joey

P.s. I've wanted to say it for a while, but you totally look like Ed Sheeran haha

My father still has bald patches in his facial hair and he's had about thirty years of natural male puberty, so some guys just aren't blessed with it, and it's not just a trans problem.

yeah it suchs specially if there to compare and then it comes to you and your like.. "yeah look how much of nothing I got from T" LOL sure I got some hair but not much beard -__-

one of the transguys I know started T a few months before me but beside that almost the same time.
he is very hairy an gained a full beard in 7 months if not earlyer, and then there is me who cant even grow a proper mustache but more like a teeneger why trys really hard to let it grow.

I keep reading it can take years to get a noticeable amount of facial hair. I have none, and may not get any until I'm in my 40's at this rate because I can't get on T no doctors here that work with trans people and can't afford to move or travel back and forth all the time to a big city to get treatment.

I hope I'm allowed to post in here to add my own two cents to the matter, as someone who went through a male puberty myself about 14 years ago:

Basically, I wouldn't worry too much. In my own original male puberty, although puberty started somewhere near the end of 7th grade, when I was about 13 1/2 years old, I really didn't start getting much facial hair at all until I was almost 16, and even then I wasn't having to shave more than every week or so until I was in college. It's something that takes a while. I mean, look at high school sophomores and juniors, guys who are like 16-17 years old. They've all been going through puberty for a good 3 years or so, and yet how many of them do you see that can grow a beard or a mustache? In my entire high school, there was exactly ONE guy who had a beard. Not a single other guy I knew even attempted to grow one until college, because until then they just didn't have enough facial hair to do it, which is a good 5-6 years after puberty starts. So I wouldn't worry. It's a VERY gradual change. And if it takes that long in a lot of cis-males, you can probably expect much of the same time-frame wise.

I can't give to much insight/support since I started T near natural puberty time so I am pretty much on schedule for my age but it certainly varies person to person.

Yeah mom used to give that one out. I have to admit I do like the shaving ritual. It's pretty easy since I have nothing to shave. Used to "shave" with dad. I wanted to get Gillette foaming shaving cream because I remember smelling it from back then.

I sat next to a guy on a plane the other day, he was a big "strapping" young man, probably 20-25. I was like 6 inches from his face (you know how they stuff you in on planes these days?!). I got a really good look. He had a few scraggly hairs on his lower chin and jaw, but nothing where his sideburns would be. I mean nothing! Hands, arms, etc., completely hairless. It is what it is! You could tell he barely needed to shave.

On another unrelated note, he had these awesome pants on (you could tell he was a stylin' type of guy), and I asked him where he got them. He said PACSUN. I just checked out their website, some pretty cool threads!  :D

I have a cis male friend who is 21 and has only recently learned how to shave. He asked me how to shave. It's just different for everyone.
