Soooooo before I get dolled up for the night I figured I'd post the no make-up guy face to see what you girls think.

There are some things that I already know about: my hair and eyebrows are a mess right now..... also I have a big: nose/chin/face/head...... but w/e

P.S no HRT or Electrolysis, yet... First therapy apt coming soon, so *fingers crossed*

P.S.S sorry most of the pictures have this weird yellow glow

<---- My left eyebrow doesn't want to work sometimes -.-

  <---- Forms, don't get the wrong impression ; _ ;

All righty, so it's been exactly a month now since I made my very first post in this topic, and I'm now officially at the 2-month mark of HRT, so I was hoping that maybe you girls would be willing to critique my progress.

Basically, still being closeted is absolutely driving me nuts, and I'm really at the point where I'm itching to go out as a girl for the first time. I really feel like I need to at least start somewhere, but I'm still completely scared stiff about it, because I know I'm still a long way from passing

So, looking for some honest critique, I decided to make a quick video so that I could see what I looked like when trying to present myself in "girl mode," and see if, based on that video, I felt like it was decent enough to at least try outside or not.

So here's the video that I made. (It's private, so I'm only showing it here because I trust everyone here to keep it as such, and I very well might just delete it once I've gotten some honest critique, because as you can probably see, I am still VERY nervous about this whole thing. But nonetheless, I really want to know.)

(Side note: I'm talking in the video about trying to decide whether to go out or not... well, I decided not to do it. I realized that I was too nervous, and I just didn't feel confident enough about my voice yet. [I'm whispering a bit in the video, to make sure that I don't wake my roommate up, so that didn't help, but still, yeah, I know I need to work on it.])

Nonetheless, how close am I getting? Am I at least making some decent progress toward not looking and sounding completely ridiculous? Is there hope for me looking/sounding good enough to pass some day? Does it look like the hormones are going to do enough, or will I need to look into FFS? Any suggestions, any opinions, any help whatsoever, would be GREATLY appreciated. I REALLY want to just get out there, but I don't want to build up my expectations too high.

THANKS!

-Carrie

You've got a lot of great things working for you... good cheekbones, a nice-looking hairline, (what makes you think that your hair is a "mess?" it looks nice!) you don't appear to have too much  brow bossing, and VERY nice skin, which will only get better with HRT. I'm definitely not an expert, as I'm just starting this myself, but I can definitely see that there's potential there. Although some of the individual features are rather big, there's just something about the overall shape that I can see becoming feminine. I don't know. That's what I see at least. Perhaps someone with more experience can go more into depth.

Veronica-

First off hey I used to have exactly the same iphone case, same color and everything (ok not that crazy I know). The only thing is your nose profile might be kind of masculine, but I think you have feminine features already which help balance your face a ton. I tootally see a girl peeking through there! Lastly, how about a smile? I bet it's a good one :D

I'd love to see you all dolled up with a smile to boot ;)

cheetaking-

The video isn't playing for me (says private) but looking at the thumb pic in the video and the pic you previously posted, it looks like you are making some good progress! You kind of look like my ex gf actually. I think you're going to do really well! Maybe try contouring your eyebrows a little, I could see it helping out quite a bit.

Here's a tutorial on how to arch those brows if you are interested. My recommendation is: take it slow!

Okay, I fixed the video settings. (Sorry, I've never tried to do this before, so I thought that "Private" was the setting that I needed to use to make it only visible to those with the link, but I messed that one up, it's actually "Unlisted." Okay, so now it should play. Sorry about that. Hope it's not too late to get some advice.)

And yeah, I wish that I could find a better wig, but unfortunately that is the only one I've gotten so far that accentuates my feminine features with any degree of success. Because of where the hair is tied off, it focuses the attention on my cheeks and my eyes, which are my favorite parts, while all of the other wigs seem to have the problem of making my upper face too small and my lower face too big. And that's a big problem, because my chin is one of my worst features as far as I'm concerned, so I hate it when it's highlighted. So yeah, I'm afraid that even though it looks a little juvenile, I feel stuck with it because it's the only one that really makes my face look feminine.

Here's all of the wigs that I own, and what they make me look like: (And again, I feel like every single one that's not tied back makes me look too masculine. Sigh... is there anyone with some hair expertise here? I just can't seem to find a good hairstyle unless I pull the wigs back into a ponytail or pigtails. Is there anything I can do to get that kind of cheek shaping with just a normal hairdo that hangs down?)

Wig 1: "Vera" wig

Wig 2: "Vintage Vixen" wig

Wig 2, pulled back: (this is what I was wearing the last time I uploaded a "girl mode" picture)

Wig 3: "Divine" wig (side note: this was the hairstyle that my mom had at my age, so I wanted to try it. Um, yay 1970's, I guess... :P)

Wig 4: "Roll With It" wig, pulled into pigtails (the one I am wearing in the video)

Once again, absolutely any advice will be welcomed. I'm still VERY early in this learning process, so I need all the help I can get.

-Carrie

(Side note: all of these pictures and videos that I have posted so far are without makeup. I really just want to be critiqued on my natural features, and honestly I'm kind of afraid of the stuff, because I have no idea what the hell I'm doing with it, and there are SO MANY ways to screw it up that I'm scared to even try it. I mean, hell, I don't even like the makeup choices that cis-girls make 90% of the time, and they've got years of experience doing it. So what hope does a complete novice like me have?)

I'd say good pass, voice and looks (from what I can see) If you're not wearing makeup then could be even better

I'm kind of in your corner on makeup, not that I don't know how to use it, but mostly because I'm too lazy to want to get into the daily habit. Most cis women where I live don't use it often and then very little when they do. Let me offer some big sis advice, I don't know if you're on HRT yet, but when you do go on it's good for another 10- 15 lbs automatic weight gain especially if you're chunky to begin with. If you go on a daily exercise program and eat a lean diet you can count on weight loss starting from your extremities first, forearms, calves and ankles, neck and face. You have nice features and a basically pretty face already, do that and the rest will fall into place for you I'm sure.

TY!!!! But my hair was a Mess! lol, j/k it's just all frizzy in the back from wearing it in a pony tail earlier, but w/e. A lot of my facial features are big, but at least they are kind of proportionate to my "large face/head" *rolls eyes* Though hopefully you're right and when I start HRT my cheekbones will gain a little fat to round out my long face.... We'll see though....

I'd love to see you all dolled up with a smile to boot ;)

Wooo go yellow phone cases! I actually used to have white, but I traded with a girl at work because I LOVED the yellow one, I just need to get a pink rubbery thing so I can have a pink lemonade iphone!

Anywayyys... My nose profile, omg don't get me started, lol. For all of my life I've wanted a nose job, so yeah, one day it's gonna happen. The smile, mayyyybe next time, but no teeth ;), lol, I don't like my teeth, they are big, blockey, and one of my two front teeth kinda "sticks" out (I know I'm overly critical about my looks but Hey, I've always been this way). Hopefully I can get invisalign sometime soon, listening to the dentist say "you don't really need braces" was such a bad idea all those years ago....

I'll get dolled up over spring break (so much school work this week) and post a few pics, maybe in the "You look fabulous darling" thread, and get some critiques on my make-up, but I need to get some brushes and a second darker foundation/bronzer (for my cheekbones), and a concealer. So much to do!

Thanks for the feedback! ("good pass," though... seriously? I'll admit, I wasn't expecting that...) And I guess I probably will attempt to wear makeup eventually... I'm just a bit nervous starting on it because I really don't know what I'm doing, and thus am afraid of how bad my first attempts are going to be.  :embarrassed:

Well, big sis, I fully anticipated the drop in metabolism that would come with HRT, and went on a VERY strict low-carb diet to combat said "automatic" weight gain. So I've actually lost 18 lbs since starting, going down from 261 to 243, and still counting. (My weight is still causing me HUGE problems, though, because I have such a fatty back and fatty arms, which really get in the way of my ability to look like a girl when I want to.) So yeah... I really hope you're right. So far almost all of the weight that I've lost has been coming off of my waist, (down from 40" to 37,") with not a lot changing in the upper body area.

Okay... thanks for the input! I always thought this was my best option myself, so it's good to get some confirmation, even though yeah, that wig might be a bit juvenile like someone else mentioned.

Thanks lots, everyone! It's really comforting to have some external confirmation every now and then. Thank you so much!

Hi everybody, we are over 40 pages into the topic, and I know Page 1 does not get many views, but just a reminder:

1) constructive, but honest, criticism.
2) if you plan on leaving your pictures up for just a short time, post a "no quote" advisory.
3) if I find dead picture links which make my topic ugly, I will replace them with something of my choice ...
