Being relatively new to my acceptance as being female, is it natural for ladies to enjoy shopping for clothes / shoes? When I get something in the mail or get home form the store, I am always excited at the new lady things I got and am excited to try them on. From the outside, it seems like a horrible stereotype for women. Was just curious what the view of the collective was on the subject of shopping in general.

"For transpeople, using the right pronoun is NOT simply a 'political correctness' issue. It's core to the entire struggle transpeople go through. Using the wrong pronoun means 'I don't recognize you as who you are.' It means 'I think you're confused, delusional, or mentally I'll.'. It means 'you're not important enough for me to acknowledge your struggle.'"

I have a few cisgirl friends that do not like shopping. And a few of them hate girly things altogether. I happen to like both but dress more utilitarian (depending on the occasion of course).
Watching the birds made me feel like taking a journey. The people, the landscapes, everything was imperfect but beautiful.

I'm still at the phase where shopping just depresses me because nothing looks good on me yet. I'm sure my tone will SERIOUSLY change once I've lost some weight and HRT has worked its magic, but for now it's just a pain in the butt.

Plus, I don't have a public "girl mode" yet, so shopping in the women's section still feels EXTREMELY uncomfortable. And yet, at the same time, it's possibly my lack of decent clothes that keeps me from having a decent public girl mode in the first place, but I don't feel comfortable shopping for those clothes without a decent girl mode already, so it's a vicious cycle.

I just try not to think about it. I hate having such a huge back and fatty arms. Female clothes were not designed for that.

If I could just have one day where I could try on absolutely anything that I wanted, with no potential for judgment from others in the store, though, I would go freaking NUTS! There's so many things that I'm dying to try, and I just love all of the variety that's available and all of the different cuts and all of the different parts they emphasize and de-emphasize, experimenting, trying to find things that look good together, I know I'm going to LOVE it once I can actually feel free to venture out.

I love shopping in the womens section of any shop. I have done so on many occasions in man mode, who cares what they think. Just tell them you are buying for your sisters birthday or some crap. I have kids so I used that excuse lol.
These days I go shopping with my wife for my girls clothes, we did a few weeks ago, got 3 pairs of jeans, a dress, some flats, makeup and anything else I wanted. $500 plus later we went home, what a great day that was. ;D

I LOVE my wife!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm a girl, I always knew!
Now it's time to stop hidding and show the world who I really am!

Really?

You had to know girls who would go to the mall and go shopping and try on clothes and whatnot. Not everyone is going to love shopping, but there is certainly a lot of girls who do enjoy shopping and getting new clothing. We all have different interests and shopping may or may not be one of those interests. I would say just embrace your interests and if shopping is one of those, then just accept it and enjoy it :)

I love to shop I always have. I'll go shopping when I have no money just to look around. But I don't think its natural for a woman to love to shop. I know plenty of women that hate it!

HELL YEAH!!!!!

And make sure you don't go alone. Take another girl with you. It's twice as much fun. Someone to have coffee with after you're all shopped out.

Some women love shopping for clothes whilst others hate it. Some men love footie whilst others hate it. I know women who love videogames & men who hate them.
We are all individuals so it's a case of whatever floats your boat.

personally I love buying new clothes, I was on my way to buy Aliens for my Xbox on release day, i'd saved up for weeks to scrape the money together & as I walked past Select I saw a gorgeous red top with studs & just had to buy it, by the time i'd left the store my videogame budget was gone but I was so happy with all my new clothes bought in the sale.
I picked up Aliens second hand the other week due to trading in some old games & now that i've played it through i'm glad I bought the clothes in the sale, they have made me happier for longer

Clothes are all I ever wear!

I'm not good at shopping in stores, but I don't mind browsing online.  Especially if I come up with an idea for an outfit to try out :)
Sometimes I blog things

Of course I'm sane.  When trees start talking to me, I don't talk back.

As a male, I hated shopping for clothes, never bought jewelry, etc.

As a female I love it, am in danger of buying all sorts of stuff I don't need.

I like Catherine Sarah's suggestion not to go alone. I wish I could act on it, but I don't really have female friends who like shopping.
Have you read my short story The Eve of Triumph?

Reason I hate shopping: I spend an hour in a store, per store, picking out several tops and bottoms, try them all on, realize half of them aren't cut the way I like (we're talking male clothes because i'm not fully out yet). I sit in the changing room and get so upset, not to the point of crying but close (I've had several conversations with my mom about how I hate that nothing fits me, you would think she would catch on at some point?) Sometimes I find two things I like that I can deal with, I move onto the next store and do the same. Sometimes I luck out and the things that I REALLY like actually fit the way I want them to, but it's to few an far between. I know it's ultimately because for the past several years I have been trying to find male clothing that hints I'm a girl while just hovering around androgyny, to my dismay it doesn't exist.

Reasons I love shopping: I love clothes, I have a larger than normal wardrobe in "male" terms, to me it's small and gets bigger every chance I get, I realized I had a large wardrobe for male terms when even my mom said "you need to get rid of some of these clothes, you hardly wear some" I know mom but there's always a chance I will! I also love shoes, but I stopped buying them because I hate male shoes, and recently I've stopped buying male clothing for the same reason. I'm just recycling my current wardrobe until I start my transition.

Second reason: Shop Therapy! OMG it's fantastic, but my above reason for hating shopping sometimes kills this for me....... Such a paradox, isn't it?

I also love Video games too though. I'm just a fancy girl like that ^^

Thanks for the replies. It seems the consensus is about 50 / 50 when in comes enjoying shopping. It is still very uncomfortable for me to buy lady things in physical stores at times so I do a lot of my shopping online. Of course that can be dangerous too... Got to have the willpower to just say no sometimes regardless of the sales.

What's worse is when you work for the store and have an employee discount added on top of the current sales prices. I literally gave back my paychecks  ;)
