That does not sound like good news. My first visit with plastic surgeon is next week. A normal office that treats women's plastic surgery needs, breast implants, etc.... however he is not a specialist for MTF TS.

Since I'm in my mid 50's I am planning a face lift, maybe one small scar to be removed & some other improvements if the physician is good.

I sure hope my surgery needs will be quoted like any other woman's prices. This city has 7-8 board certified plastic surgeons, guess I should visit 3 or 4 to make sure the price is fair.

I've had previous facial plastic surgeries & the physician was very fair.

Good luck other girl friends.

It's a bit of a luxury considering the number of girls who wouldn't ever be able to afford it.  I went to Dr Suporn (brilliant!) and there is a reason his contact is done through another person (Sophie) While she has many enquiries she has fewer bookings because of the payment structure and the simple fact that many clients never eventuate because of the cost.

I really want to go to Spiegel(Spegiel? Speigel? that dude from boston) since he does amazing work but you still look natural, but man, is he expensive.

I want my forehead, nose, chin, and trach done. that's all so it's not a lot but it's still going to somehow come out a bajillion dollars my broke self will never make.

Hi,
While FFS with a qualified/experienced surgeon is never cheap, no doubt because there are so few of them,  price varies enormously depending on where you go. From my own knowledge of a subject I spent quite a lot of time on, here is a classification based on price, starting with the highest , then mid-range and lowest .

Dr Ousterhout. US
Dr Speigel. US
Dr Meltzer. US

Dr Supporn. Thailand
Dr Zukowski. US
Dr Van de Ven. Belgium
Dr Van der Dussen. Belgium
Dr's Simon & Capitan. Spain
Dr Di Maggio. Argentina
Dr Chettawut. Thailand

Dr Pimentel. Peru
Dr Cardenas. Mexico

From top to bottom here you are talking about a price ratio which is easily 3 to 1 and from  the many photos I have seen here: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ffs-support/  it is not really obvious what justifies such a big differences in price.

There are other surgeons out there too but those I have listed are certainly among the best known today. Also Dr's Supporn & Chettawut are best known for GRS wheareas all the others I mentioned only do facial surgery and I have seen very little of the Thai surgeons work.

Choice also depends on how much work there is to do. Some of these surgeons are willing to do very agressive surgery, others less so.  In all cases, anyone considering FFS would be very well advised to shop around a bit before making decision. It is also well worth visiting the site to which I provided a link as I don't believe you can find a better collection of different surgeons work anywhere else on the web. You will also get neutral feedback on what procedures are worth doing and people's experience with different surgeons.

Hope that helps.
Hugs

FrancisAnn,
If you are only planning a facelift a normal plastic surgeon should be fine. If you need anything more radical eg. bone work on forehead or chin/jaw,  I would strongly advise talking with an FFS specialist as normal plastic surgeons really don't have a clue.
Warm regards.

I had my first FFS with dr Bart van de Ven on 11th March. The second one I will undergo next Wednesday June the 5th. It is quite expensive but the results are amazing.
I am really happy I've chosen him. He's got miraculous hands and has performed a new technique in order to preserve my nerfs when feminising my chin.
