Hi girls,

I'm a year or so into my healthy eating & fitness routine. Presently I weigh 67kg and I am 5'9" tall, I'm happy with my body condition other than the remaining tummy fat that I have. I expect that by the time I get to 64 or 65kg I should have reduced the tummy fat to negligible. That is where I want to be before I relax my diet and allow some fat to build in hips/bum/boobs etc. I am wondering if any of you took this fat elimination approach or whether your findings were that your existing body fat relocated itself to the 'right places' over time simply as a result of the hormones?

It is an interesting balancing act, trying to lose belly fat, while at the same time, hoping to deposit fat in the breasts and buttocks.

I have found that there are ways to help tighten the abdominal muscles, to minimize the "pooch" there.  One is doing the "yoga plank" position several times per day.

I'm 60Kg and 5' 9". I work out in the gym at least 3 times a week, I did start to develop a bit of tummy fat as I increased my food intake on E, but I do crunches to lose it. Basically laying horizontally with my legs locked under a support about 4 foot off the ground, waist supported on a frame at the same height bend from the waist until my head touches the floor, and bring back to horizontal, do 5 reps of ten. (Bit like sit ups in reverse)

I'm getting nice fat deposit in the right places at the same time.

Wow Cindy I feel fat all of a sudden : ;) Do you mind if I ask how long you have been on HRT?
I suspect I have some weight loss to come through muscle mass reduction in time to come (or at least I hope so)!
I think that any kind of calorie reduction/burning activity is likely to aid in eliminating my tummy fat as opposed to focusing specifically on abdominal routines (My pilates covers abs pretty well).
Did either of you experience fat migration without exercise ?

Couple of years now. I was on a low E dose for about a year because of physiological problems, I had a bad liver and  crap blood pressure and severe depression and stuff. After I dealt with that I went on normal HRT levels a year ago.

Oh I'm a bit of a gym bunny I do a lot of cardio as well and so I keep the whole body under control. Now a days I'm very fit.

I haven't been on HRT without excercise

Body fat does not migrate. You need to lose fat and then gain it under the influence of HRT to "move" it, one hopes, to the "right places". Diet also makes a difference where fat is placed. A diet with with lots of sugar and refined carbohydrates will tend to put more fat around the abdomen. The abdomen is the choice place of storage when there is excess sugar circulating the system. Eating the right type of fat is very important. Eat more monounsaturated fats and polyunsaturated fats, and importantly, fats with omega 3. Omega 3 fats tend to be stored around the hips and thighs in women, omega 6 fats around the abdomen. I hope that helps.

So HRT changes where fat wants to collect.  Does that mean my body will burn the "male fat" first whenever it decides to use some?
Sometimes I blog things

Of course I'm sane.  When trees start talking to me, I don't talk back.

I can see your logic,  but I honestly can't say if this would be the case. You should lose the fat most recently gained, but under recent influence of HRT and female fat gain, it would be hard to say if it would make a difference.

I don't think the body sees a difference between male and female fat. Like Tesla said, you'll lose the fat most recently gained and the last bit of fat to go will be the one you gained first, which in many cases will be waist fat. It prob is a good idea to lose as much weight as possible prior to HRT and to do a lot of cardio. I bike like five miles a day on a stationary bike three times a week.I think this has helped a lot.

Thank you very much Tesla, you have confirmed my suspicion and validated the basis of my weight loss goals. I hadn't been aware of the most recent fat being the first to go principle but that is a helpful piece of knowledge to be aware of.

I will now stick to my plan with increased confidence. I'll just tell my boobs they'll have to wait their turn!  ;D
