This Canadian article about non-binary people handled the topic pretty well--they actually talked to multiple non-binary people with different opinions and respected pronoun choices! It also mentions the openly intersex mayor, Tony Briffa.

I really suggest not reading the comments, though; as usual they're pretty awful.

I've also been thinking a lot about language and non-binary-ness lately. I don't have any pronoun preference (yet), but it's so crazy how big of a hurdle language is for non-binary people. Language structures our perceptions and understandings and English is a binary language. Everything is boys or girls or inanimate which doesn't leave much room for those of us living, sapient beings that aren't boys or girls. The lack of gender neutral pronouns in our language is what makes it so hard for people to conceptualize non-binary identities.


also totally read some comments, not so awful as funny at how just dumb some folks are. Cis-Privilege 101: People who don't struggle with gender/sexuality never take the time to research either and in their ignorance assume those who do have those struggles are equally uneducated, but then they're to privileged and dumb to get that as well.
