I had my period from April 6-11, and wasn't supposed to get it again until May 9th, but then on Saturday the 27th I started bleeding again. Not much, just a little and I didn't think much about it since people say "spotting" is normal though I've never had it before. I am now on my 5th day and it's gotten much heavier, almost like a light period instead (I use the SheCup, and I have like 8 ml of blood every 4-5 hours now where before it was like 2-3 ml every 6 hours).

How long is this supposed to last? And, is it normal to get heavier? Anyone have any experience with this? I tried doing a Google search, but I just keep coming up with a lot of pregnancy stuff (I am def not pregnant lol). Most of the pregnancy spotting stuff describes the blood as being brownish, where mines a normal red color.

Also, on the 8th when I did have my period, I got this sudden random pain where I think an ovary is. The pain was so bad that my vision blurred and I got dizzy. I was waiting for the T to come and had to sit down on the platform to avoid passing out and then vomited in a public restroom. I never felt pain so horrible before. I went to the doctor that same day, and of course, it stops hurting as I am in the waiting room. Basically the doctor felt my stomach, then said that it was probably nothing, I am fine, and to go home. Not sure if it's just a coincidence that I had this horrible pain and then within the same month I start randomly bleeding again, though I don't really want to go back to the doctor and have her just say I am a hypochondriac.

I've had something similar and after multiple emergency room visits where they suspected I had appendicitis (or pregnancy which was impossible), they determined I had kind of vicious endometriosis. It cropped up when I was about 25 years old, and I've been treating it by taking oral birth control ever since.

I would def. see a gyno if I was you, especially with severe pain.

I'm certainly no expert or anything, but that does seem to be at the point of not really spotting anymore. A quick google gave me things about menopause- I don't know how old you are, so that may or may not be a possibility, but it could also just be stress or something like that. Before I went on birth control to keep mine regular, if I got stressed, they could come at almost any time.

If it continues, I'd definitely go see the doctor again.

Thanks guys, I'll go try to see someone else (didn't like her much).

I am not near menopause age, I am 24. I also don't think I am stressed... I probably should be since finals are up, but I don't usually get stressed about anything. I am kind of laid back.

The severe pain sounds a lot wrong. It should not cause that (know it's a pain, but that's another story). Do you have a sympathetic doctor, because it sounds like you'd need it.

Sorry for to repeat something you've answered, but are you super duper 100% you aren't pregnant? Sounds like symptoms of pregnancy. No you definitely aren't pregnant? Yay! Sometimes the Red Death will come on spontaneously. How old are you? For me, between the age of 12-16 my red death was sporadic as hell. Sometimes i'd get it twice in a month, sometimes I wouldn't get it at all. If you in your twenties though it should have regulated by now a bit, has anything changed recently? Did you just start T?

The last time I had my RD come on suddenly and with more pain then usual was after I took a horse hoof to the ovary area. The kick didn't hurt so much, but when Aunt Flo came to town I thought I was dying. Did you injure this area recently? Take a ball to the gut? Walk particularly hard into a waist high counter? Get kicked by a horse?

If your Doc isn't taking your concern seriously, there's no problem seeking a second opinion and I would. It could be nothing, or it could be something not good at all. How long has it been going on? Has it been more than 7 days yet? If so then i'd really begin to worry, if not don't worry yourself too much, could just be an early cycle.

With regards to pain, what 'severe' is varies so much from person to person. Every single month my Red Death rolled in I would lay in crippling agony in the fetal position unable to move (causing me t miss quite a bit of school) and that was AFTER being put on birth control to try to lessen the pain. Essentially if YOU cannot stand the pain, it's too much and i'd seek help to try to lessen it. Have you tried putting a heating pad over your abdomen, eating a banana and sipping some mint tea? All these things can help ease cramps.

T can cause menopausal symptoms. Also, there's this thing that can happen- it's like a cancer caused by atrophy- it's likely your body was just going "oh s---!" and pumping in the chick hormones to keep that from happening. The pain in the ovary area you were feeling was likely your body trying to maturate an egg too fast.

I don't want to scare you but my roommate had these symptoms, went to the gyno and she had oophoritis (is this the right word  ???)  Blame it on the translater if not. She got anitbiotics and npw she's fine. I would also recommend to see a doc.

Hey Bastian: 100% sure I am not pregnant; age 24; nothing has changed and haven't started T; no injuries (though I have the tendency to walk into rails though I usually bang my hip  :D . Sorry you got kicked by your horse, it sounds horribly painful!); it's day 6, I'll see a doctor if it continues past 7 days.

Thanks Jared, I'll have to Google oophoritis and see what it is

This is probably not helpful, but I've had a pain like that, but it wasn't during my period.  It was the most awful thing ever... ended up having someone take me to the doctor, but on the way there, it just disappeared.  The doctor told me I probably just had a cyst, and then it popped, and the pain went away.  I haven't had anything like that since, and that happened while I was in high school... so probably seven years ago.  (Holy **** I just realized I've been out of high school for 6 years and have nothing to show for it).

You're not on any sort of birth control, are you?  Sometimes that can make things weird...

There are a lot of things that can go wrong without it being something terrible serious/severe. But severe pain usually means something is wrong.

Don't worry yourself too much though, 9/10 times it's absolutely nothing. It's the same as self-medicating using google lol. Suddenly your Cold seems more like the Black Plague. If it's still hurting after day 7 i'd seek a doctor's (a different doctor if you can find one...) opinion.
