its not razor burn even though i do get that as well sometimes. ive been using neosporin for the last week and its been working but i read on the internet that it can hurt me if i use it more than 2 weeks. so do yall have any advice on what i can get to prevent a pimple or razor burn? please dont say laser hair remove because i cant afford it like im very poor.

pimples are actually ingrown hairs.  Start by exfoliating before shaving.  And use aloe vera gel to sooth razor burn.

Neosporin is a triple antibiotic OTC.  The only harm it may do is to possible create resistant bacteria.  I use it on a regular basis.

I use an alcohol pad immediately after shaving to kill any bacteria. Then I moisturize with coconut oil before makeup. It works pretty well for me. :)

Does that help to lessen the pain Christine? I'm not getting laser for another two or three months and I tried to tweeze my chin hairs but it was way to painful. Ugh.

No it doesn't lessen the pain....
Salt is a great exfoliant..lemon juice is acidic
It removes more layer...the vitimin c in the lemen promotes
Skin growth...

Pro tip...small fresh scars can be removed with lemon juice..
The acid eats top Layer...vit c makes skin grow fast
Use for a month

Angélique, I still I'm still too new to reply to PMs. Can I answer you here?

I used to get those all the time until I started shaving mid shower. I keep a fog-free mirror in there just for that.

Exfoliating +1! Now I exfoliate very lightly before and after each shave. I find that the before helps to get a closer shave, and the after really helps makeup go on a lot easier/smoother.

Most likely ingrown hairs.  Ideally, you would shave in the direction the hairs grow - face, legs, armpits, etc.  That way you don't "pull" the hair so far when cutting it, that it retracts beneath the skin.  Sharp razor too - a must.

I would try exfoliating a little bit after (while you are still in the shower)

And make sure that you don't have any shampoo or conditioner left on your face from washing your hair... Sometimes that will clog one up for me. Well, not anymore- I am aware of it now :)

Also at night I always go to bed with a generous amount of extra virgin unrefined coconut oil on my face, it does the best job of keeping my pores open & healthy as well as clearing zits / skin imperfections quicker than any facial treatment cream I have ever used. I use it as an eye makeup remover, too. Any fine wrinkles that I had are now gone as well.. That stuff is cheap and amazing for your skin.

If you're still having issues after that you could try witch hazel right after shaving. Especially healing from laser it is über-good

After my 6th laser session I'm going to start using my tria to see if it will work on the few remaining hairs. There are so few now that I highly doubt there would be any risk of my face catching fire ;)

Angélique, I just use one pad (you might use two if they're small), and then I put coconut oil on my face afterward. :)

I went to cvs today n told the makeup person there n she told me that the oil free cleansing wipes pink grapefruit by neutragena  prevents razor burn. Does it?
  •

A

It probably doesn't. Cleansing wipes remove extra oil and perhaps disinfect. There's no reason it would prevent ingrowns, apart maybe it could disinfect an ingrown that's already underway.

Don't listen to pharmacy employees. I've never met a competent one. Each one has proven me in a painful way how incompetent they were. They know little to nothing relevant, and whatever they know is taught by the businesses selling them the products they sell you - lies and stretched truths. Young, old, experienced or not... none of them is knowledgeable.

You ask them about a cream, and they recommend one. Their reason is "this brand is generally well-liked, and the company says it's for sensitive skin". You try to ask her what there is in it that's good for you and she's clueless. You ask why it's better than that other cream over there, and she says it's good too. In the end both creams are awful.

They sell what they're paid to sell, that's all.

1. Exfoliate well before shaving, and gently clean your face afterwards.

2. Either try to shave in the direction of growth or get an electric razor. Both should make sure beard hairs don't get stuck under the skin and make an ingrown. Both will get you somewhat a less close shave, but it'll give you a safety against ingrowns. If you don't want that, then make big efforts in exfoliating and cleaning.

I would change your shaving cream. I use Aveno sensitive skin. It's a cream bottle with a baby blue cap. How you store your razor as well matters. Never leave it face down.
