Nah not the carnage. It was more the implication that Loki was raped that I don't find funny. Not in the slightest.

I didn't take it as him being raped when I read the story.  If I had, I probably would have had a bit of a more negative outlook on the story.

Edge, I see what you're getting at and I feel ticked off because I empathize completely, that's how people are with me irl. But anyway, it's just a fact of life that fangirls like to take anything and everything and make it...cute. Chibi is the word for it or something, I dunno. But unfortunately, Thor and The Avengers came out recently with sequels on the way, so Loki has been thrust into the spotlight of their tumblr-centered lives and may remain there for quite some time. I don't think it's out of disrespect- in a way, that is how they show their respect, paying homage to the figure through art. They just interpret it in a way we don't see as giving proper acknowledgement to the nature of Loki himself. But oh well, kids will be kids.

Speaking of kids, you should've seen Comic Con last year- there were countless Kid Lokis running around, my friend was one of them but actually admires his personality and history, not just the cinematic portraying from the recent movies. But it was pretty crazy. Did see some pretty awesome costumes there. Anyways, off to get my hair cut short in the back too. Hopefully they won't automatically gender me as female, my mom gave them a gender-neutral nickname.

Technically, we don't know much about the original myths since they were written down a few hundred years after Christianity came through, so I admit none of us really know what the original myth was. The versions of the myth that I've read (translations of the one that was written in the 13th century if I recall correctly) do indicate that Loki wasn't exactly willing what with the death threats and the running.

Me too, Liminal. Not so much now, but before I came out as male, people used to keep calling me cute. I don't see a problem with Kid Loki. He's cute, but he's still Loki.

You're lucky, even people who have no clue I was born female are always going on about how cute I am. I hate it.

Got a tapered haircut, the lady shaved most of my sideburns but missed a bit of it and also left the patchy dark fur that's been growing on the back of my neck. Need to shave that, but I've also got some pretty manly stubble going on back there which is awesome. My mother asked me if I'm getting testosterone from someone in school or something, I laughed at her and said nope. Almost all my hormone levels always seem to err on the low side for whatever reason.

That sucks. Yeah I am luckily around people who will stop when I glower at them and tell them I hate it.

Its funny to watch my dog hoover the floor looking for stuff to gobble up. He's still got food in his bowl, but he's going around just sniffing, tasting, etc like he's a little vacuum.

Usually followed by some angry growled threat on my part that they ignore. Before I came out, people did pretty much the same thing except with female pronouns. I once was told by a girl that she wanted to put me in her backpack and take me everywhere with her. Why.

Probably, no one ever guesses my correct age when they see me and a couple of kids wouldn't believe me even after I showed them my I.D. card with my DOB on it, so annoying. When I really think about it, I'd rather come out as transgender to my family.  What lead me to this decision is what happened a few years ago.  My best friend was very into her faith as a Christian.  I wasn't as heavy into it as she was, so often times, she would try to "pry" and ask all of these questions about why I wasn't so into it and why I didn't like to talk about God.  She kept asking and asking and getting on my nerves and it got to the point where we didn't speak to each other for a week.  I was really sad about the situation so I went to talk to my mother about it and one of the first things out of her mouth was "You don't believe in God?!?!?!"  She eventually understood what I meant and she ultimately took my side, but it got me to thinking....if my mom flipped out because she thought I didn't believe in God, imagine how it would be if I told her I wasn't a Christian.  I think I'd MUCH rather come out as trans. 

Either way-she'd would blame the internet.

On the trans side of things, I do have a few ideas in mind.  That's why I'm waiting for the perfect time to come out so I know how to respond effectively to religious opposition.  I doubt it will change her mind but I have to try.

I think like most things parents put up it's just a vehicle for control using the fear factor, if it wasn't religion it would be something else.
