Time is not physical, it is nothing more than a metric we use for gauging and quantifying the passage of events and sequences so that we may analyze and understand our surroundings. It is literally all in your head. We still gauge relativity with time, so we can measure it. Something moving at 1,000 meters a second from 2 miles away will appear to be moving much faster than it would if it were 1000 miles away. That is a matter of perception, not a gauge of time. In essence, yes. Time is indeed relative to the observer, but it is more than that, time does not flow at the same rate everywhere, this has been proven such as photons which live and die in the same instance yet can travel a billion light years . Time also has a relationship with speed and gravity. And although faster than light travel may be impossible in standard space time there are loopholes around this such as the Alcubierre warp drive data. While this warp metric is a valid solution of Einstein's equations of general relativity, we have no idea how to produce such a distortion of space-time. Its implementation would require the imposition of radical curvature on extended regions of space. Within our present state of knowledge, the only way of producing curved space is by using mass, and the masses we have available for works of engineering lead to negligible space curvature. Moreover, even if we could do engineering with mini black holes (which have lots of curved space near their surfaces) it is not clear how an Alcubierre warp could be produced. Our limits to understanding the universe are based on what we can actually perceive. We evolved such mental capacity by working together as humans. You would be correct that one brain has a capacity, but the passed down knowledge and continued research and education allows us to collectively see what the universe holds. Just life evolving through connections like it has for billions of years. Thusly our perception of reality is limited to the capacity at which we use our brains. And right now, that capacity is limited. Space on the other hand, is real. It is physical matter and energy, and what it is expanding into, we still do not know. Based on the current rate of our increasing capacity, it will be an eternity before we understand eternity.
..yea .. I was bored..with too much time to think.. about how to use that time
Right now I'm looking for some Ibuprofen........
