105-year-old bacon woman: 'I love bacon' says elderly woman

A 105-year-old woman who loves bacon is making news today. The woman says that the key to her good health (well in to her 100's) is, you guessed it, bacon. On May 7, The Raw Story reported that Pearl Cantrell's love of bacon not only makes her happy but it also keeps her going.

"I love bacon, I eat it everyday. I don't feel as old as I am, that's all I can say. I love bacon, I could eat it for every meal — and I do," said Cantrell. Her age and her obsession with the delicious crispy pork pieces scored her a visit from the Oscar Meyer Wienermobile and it's making her a bacon celebrity across the internet.

Bacon: the secret to a long, healthy, happy life.  Don't let anybody tell you otherwise.   

I'd sell my soul to drive the Oscar Mayer Weinermobile. You can tell when Jamie digs up a fake story, though. Oscar Meyer? Reputable sources at least know how to spell. Especially since it says Oscar Mayer in two foot tall letters!

The famous  Victorian chef, Fannie Farmer, thought fried foods were the secret to good health. I think she died of hardened arteries though.

Pearl Cantrell, 105-Year-Old Woman, Says Bacon Is Key To Longevity

A 105-year-old Texas woman who worked a life of physical labor and mothered seven children revealed the secret to her longevity: bacon.

"I love bacon, I eat it everyday," Pearl Cantrell told NBC affiliate KRBC when asked the secret to living so long. "I don't feel as old as I am, that's all I can say," Cantrell added....

When Oscar Mayer found out about Cantrell's love of bacon, it sent one of its iconic Wienermobiles to make a bacon delivery to Cantrell's home....

There's been some research to back up Cantrell's claim about the health benefits of bacon. A University of Zurich study published by the journal BMC Medicine in March found that eating little or no red meat can be a risk factor for early death. However, the same study found that eating too much bacon increases the risk of bowel cancer. (The study analyzed the diets of more than 400,000 people between the ages of 35 and 69.)

Take that!

It's as if they read the minds of bacon lovers everywhere: Oscar Mayer on Monday introduced five new hot dogs, one of which has bacon cooked right into it.

"No one knows bacon like Oscar Mayer," Jared Baker, director of Oscar Mayer hot dogs, said in a statement. "We know Americans love bacon, and we know they love hot dogs, so it seemed like the perfect time for us to introduce our first hot dog made with bacon...."

"I knew there was a God," quipped Facebook user Daniel Boone.
