So I've been on hormones for about 11 months now. the first 5 months I was on dosages that weren't really effective. Then in Jan. I finally started on a dosage that was affective. I was and am getting good results. Since Jan. I had a growth spurt for my breasts and a almost complete loss of sex drive as well as erections. (yay!). So fast forward to about a week ago. I woke up in the middle of the night with an erection for the first time in 5-6 months. It was incredibly paintful. Like really really painful. Since then its happened a couple more times and again last night. Around the same time I started having another growth spurt for my breasts. So I assume my hormones are still working. But, getting these random erections when I was not getting any as well as them becoming really painful. I am starting to get a little bit concerned that something might be wrong? Is this normal? Have any of you girls had this happen to you? I have a doctors appointment next friday, so if it is serious I am already going to see a doctor soon.

To answer your question... I have no idea.  Hormones fluctuate, so I would understand it if this was a normal thing to happen...  Still ask the doctor, though!
Sometimes I blog things

Of course I'm sane.  When trees start talking to me, I don't talk back.

Hmm, it hasn't happened to me but I do distinctly remember reading these same symptoms from other people. I got a semi-erection the other day which is odd cause my testes don't exist anymore. I can't feel them. The whole thought grosses me out and I have a lot of trouble reaching down and checking, but I did and they have vanished. At first I was like *shivers*, sheeeet, maybe this was a bad idea and then I was like, hmm, no it wasn't who cares you are going to get SRS you do not need them. But then maybe I do so the whole thing doesn't shrink since I would want some good depth. Okay major tangent sorry!

I would def bring it up to the doctor but I don't think it is anything to worry about. it is prob related to it shrinking or maybe it is in pain because it realizes its time is up lol

I have a feeling it is related to shrinking because it hasn't uhmm stood at attention for so long? But, the just randomly getting erections when I haven't had them for so long is just plain confusing. Although the erections aren't sexually related, they are the "you need to go to the restroom" variety, I still haven't had those ones for a long time. Hormone fluctuation might be the cuplrit as well. I have been have some mood swings really bad lately. High highs and low lows about 20 times a day it feels like. It might just be the joys of womanhood or my dosages might need to be looked at. For some reason I am just becomming worried about this.   :-\

Thanks for your replies ladies.

There are lots of ideas of what causes spontaneous and/or nocturnal erections.  The good news is  that natal women occasionally have a similar effect within homologous tissues as they become spontaneously aroused.  That is to say, you want the tissues working if you anticipate SRS.

Some of the ideas include:

Your body is just making sure everything is working right
High T levels (I think this is your worry)
High dopamine levels
High prolactin
That it is a psychological response to subconscious arousal
A full bladder
Increased levels of prostaglandin

There are more, I just can't remember them now.   >:(

Yea I've looked into the possible causes, because I'm a nerd. I guess I trying to guage how common it is to put my mind at ease. But unfortunitially it doesn't seem all that common. I think someone mentioned on a thread somewhere that it happened to them just before another round of changes. Which seems to be the case for me because since the first instance my breast have become really tender once again. To the point I have to sleep with a padded bra!  But I still hope everything is fine obviously. I hope it is just my body making sure the stuff still works. Because my mind sure could care less lol! But I do plan to have SRS, and I don't want it all to atrophy prior to that because, well, lets be honest, I want to have orgasms lol ;D Female ones though. I can have them now BUT self gratification now has become too much work! ::)  Its nice, but it takes me like two to three weeks just to maybe get into the mood. I think I need a SO to help me with them, wouldn't that be lovely... The love of my life needs to hurry up and come into my life already...  ::)

YAAY for a post full of tangents.

I am really worried about the whole atrophy thing. I have exactly zero desire to use it now and just can't get in the mood and don't even now if I can. Is there like a set number of times or some kind of guesstimate and how often you should use it so the SRS works something proper?

That's part of the reason it hurts when it gets hard...some of the "body" of the part has shrunk, and is not used to the blood pressure in keeping it "up." It is a serious ache.

I'm under the impression if one keeps things moving (use it to reach orgasm, even without ejaculation) about once a month, that's enough to not impair SRS, and will help you stay orgasmic afterwards.

I don't know why you'd be having nocturnal erections, though.
...I think for most of us it is a futile effort to try and put this genie back in the bottle once she has tasted freedom...
