It was a very strange day yesterday. (Friday, Nov 25th, 2005)

Winter is well underway here. We had a big snow storm Thursday, and Friday, and it's still snowing now. So yesterday the temperature was -15 and it was about 7:00 PM and I was out on the back deck clearing the snow. The snow squall suddenly stopped and the stars popped out in the black sky. It was quite beautiful, and there was an erie light everywhere.
I stopped shovelling and looked around at all the fields and woodlands blanketed in fresh white snow, and thought that all of the errors and mistakes that have gone before are now all covered, snugly out of site, in a blanket of snow, where they will slowly fade from memory and we will wake in the spring with a fresh start on life.
Kinda weird...
It was really getting cold, the wind picked up, and the snow clouds rolled in again and the lights went out. Shoveling a little faster, I worked my way around to the front of the house, when I heard this pitiful little cry. At first I thought it was a Martin or a Fisher, we have lots of those here. But I knew that didn't make that kind of noise. Then I heard it again, even louder. I got to the front walkway leading to the front door and there sitting on the window sill was the cutest little kitten I had ever seen. She looked to be about a year old, very slight, and slim, and as soon as she saw me she was at my legs crying her little heart out. I picked her up and she was shivering so bad, that I took her into the house to have a look at her. She was so cold...
Gillian and I examined her all over, and she seemed to in good health. She had a nice coat, and no sign of fleas. Her fur was very thin and fine so we suspected that she must be a house cat otherwise she would have her winter fur if she was a barn cat. So we fed her, and she settled right in with us. We'll call her Cinders for now.

The strange thing is, we don't know how she got to our house. We are very remote, no one near us at all. It's a puzzle.

P.S. I'll post some pictures later
