I woke up this morning and was still alive. I'm due for bypass surgery next week and feel that each day is a plus. I'm probably being over dramatic but I am really nervous/worried/terrified. So each sunrise is fantastic.
I had a triple bypass in October 2006. At the time I was unable to walk from the parking lot into a building without getting winded and having angina. I earlier had a near fatal ventricular tachycardia while refereeing a soccer game.
I will not kid you, the first few days in cardiac ICU are painful. Make sure you have a good morphine drip. I had people around me the first few days, when I did not want to see anybody. Tell most of them to go away.
But OMG, did it feel good when the Foley catheter came out!
I still have nasty scars on my arm, from where they harvested an artery to re-plumb the heart, and down my sternum. It ruined my cleavage
