Hi my names Lilyyy I'm a MTF transsexual still in hiding.

now i know its weird to pst here coz i'm mtf not FTM but I was reading about this Chris Lilley tv show in my country about a surfer who lived in Nambucca Heads who got his balls shot off in a gunfight. well, in it he couldn't surf anymore because he had no balls but in the end he got an artificial balls transplant and he was finally confident enough to surf again. i was wondering if this was possible for ftms so they can naturally produce T. I know Mtfs aren't as lucky as we have no ovaries and never will, therefore never naturally produce oestrogen without pills / injections. so are ftms luckier than us in that they get to have testicles even though we never get our ovaries?

Thanks guys

Only fake ones made of silicone.

In a word, no.

That show's a 'mockumentary': i.e. a fake documentary where events have been exaggerated for comedic effect.

There have been some real-life cases of cisgendered men who have lost their testicles for various reasons. In these cases, they have the option of having artificial testicles implanted - but the clue is in the word 'artificial'. They would probably be made of silicone and are pretty much like breast implants. So no, they don't function like normal testicles; they don't produce hormones; they don't make someone fertile.

In the case of the show you watched, they would be purely for cosmetic reasons, and you'll probably find he'd want them because he lacked self-confidence in a wetsuit or something. So once he looked more 'natural', he felt confident to wear a tight-fitting wetsuit so he could surf again. He'd probably need to have hormone supplements too, because his body would no longer produce them properly. Just like FtMs would need hormone supplements.

(And yes, we can choose to get those artificial implants too, if we want them. Again, they're purely for cosmetic reasons).

Why would not having balls prevent him from surfing?

I think the O/P is having some fun with us.

Kind of reminds me of Commander Up in Starship.

Yeah, we can if we want them. Personally, I do not see the point behind having fake balls. They're just sort of...there. I can understand why some guys would want them. I'm just not one of those guys.

And no one, ftm or mtf, can have working sex organs implanted at this point in time. Science and medicine are still lagging behind in this department. We can hope that they will catch up with our dreams and needs in our lifetimes. I wouldn't hold my breath, though. You're way more likely to die of asphyxiation.  :P

Depends on your definition of "working." Mine certainly work well.

I would think he means ones appropriate to our gender identity made of biological tissue with the capability of producing the appropriate hormones we use HRT to have in our systems and the reproductive cells of the sex we are transitioning to. Which is entirely possible at the moment, just difficult, unavailable at the moment, not a highly funded field (even for cispeople who are lacking those organs from an accident or defect), and when it is available will be ridiculously expensive.

I know that part peeves me a lot and I don't see why I can't have the same biological functions as a cismale even if I don't plan on having kids, just to feel "normal" in that sense.

Yes, this is what I meant. Most of us have functional downstairs, so to speak. It's just not the downstairs we would like to have.

I wasn't aware of any of things you mentioned in response though. Is it really possible? I would like to think that it would be important enough to research, if not for us, then for cisgendered folks.

It most definitely will be expensive, that much we can be for certain.

Do you have sources that actually state that it's possible? I'd love to see them if you do. I'm a science geek.

I too am peeved that I can't have those biological functions. I also think that the lack of biological functions or even satisfactory functions for ftms is a big deal when it come to the final stages of transition.

I'd like to see more about this ball-less surfer. I have surfed and went bodyboarding for decades without testicles. I wonder if they increase buoyancy.

As others have stated, yeah we can get testicular implants. I kinda question if I would ever go that route. I'd worry about introducing something foreign into my body just for aesthetic appeal. Would they have to be replaced eventually? What if you got kicked or racked yourself...would they burst?

From Wikipedia:

Angry Boys is an Australian television mockumentary series written by and starring Chris Lilley. Continuing the mockumentary style of his previous series, the show explores the issues faced by young males in the 21st century – their influences, their pressures, their dreams and ambitions. In Angry Boys, Lilley plays multiple characters: S.mouse, an American rapper; Jen, a manipulative Japanese mother; Blake Oakfield, a champion surfer; Ruth "Gran" Sims, a guard at a juvenile detention facility; and her grandchildren, South Australian twins Daniel and Nathan Sims.

Its a very funny show, but no where near as good as Summer Heights High.

I don't find this reminder that I'll never have the biological dick and balls necessary to have biological kids with the woman of my dreams to be very funny.

If they are having fun at you guys, I think a ban would be in order.

As do I, that's not very nice. I'll be withdrawing back into denial of my physiology now, thank you very much.

Why does someone always have to get upset? Lighten up, I didn't see anything directed at you. I don't have a typical wiener or balls either but got a laugh out of it.

I like you Wiley and I'm not picking on you. Just saying to not take things so personal.

I don't think you should be offering any advice on who should or should not be banned.
