Ugh just having a mental breakdown today, I talked to my gf about starting hrt she didn't seem too supportive and I called my doctor to start the process or see if she could refer me to someone who further understands and can help and address my needs but she pretty much said she can't help me, it sucks coming from an area where this is all new to everyone.. I feel like no one understands and that because of that they think im weird.. Everyone's so closed minded.. I feel depressed as if ill be trapped forever and that no matter what I do the world will never see me as I am...

Which country/state are you in?  Someone here will probably have some experience in getting HRT in your area.

Keep communications with your girlfriend open, but don't push the trans issue too much.  She's going to need time, there's going to be the worry that you're going to become a completely different person once you're on hormones, but with a bit of luck you'll work things out.  Good luck making the first steps to transitioning and hopefully someone will be able to help more.

Also, if you're able to make it to Chicago or have the ability to save up for the trip to Chicago they have a very cheap Informed Consent clinic there. I lived in Grand Rapids and drove the 3 hours and it's worth every penny I spent. My doctor is awesome, the staff is awesome, and the fact that I have a vial of T is awesome. You can google Howard Brown in Chicago and go from there.

Read through all of that, and then call them and ask if you can schedule everything the same day. Explain to them about your commute. They were extremely helpful with my appointments and offered to do everything the same day, BUT I declined (wanted my lab work done first) AND they may have changed their policy on that.

That is her JOB - a doctor takes the Hippocratic Oath and it is their duty to help you.  By not acting and leaving you in such a state, she is actually causing you harm.  I find that wholly shameful.

There are still a lot of doctors out there who are steeped in ignorance. The ones who are don't see being trans as anything other than a psychological problem. Definitely agree with you that it's shameful.
