I l-o-v-e New Braunfels ... and Gruene too!

Yeah, you get more abilities after 15 posts.

One listing I use is "Find a Therapist" on Psychology Today.  You can search by area, then filter by those who advertise they have "transsexual" expertise.

http://therapists.psychologytoday.com/rms/prof_results.php?sid=1374175989.6895_22805&city=New+Braunfels&county=Comal&state=TX&spec=187&lmore=22

But if you are happy and comfortable with who you have now, I'd say run with it.

I love Gruene and its springing dace floor :D

We are family, Chris.  Someday, there is going to be another person like you, hesitant to come onto the boards, worried about the gender issues, and you will be there to lend a helping hand.   :)

I'm very much looking forward to that day Jamie D!  ;D

Haha I haven't been in at least five years. Really looking forward to going again now that I've moved back. One of the best things about this town is the live music scene and local radio. Hard to beat if you enjoy the genre!

In Austin, there's a place called Transformations Psychotherapy that specializes in transgender issues. Two of the three counselors are trans women who are also well established in the trans community (and I don't just mean in Austin). It's run by Katy Koonce, and here's the site: http://katykoonce.com/

Another support group organization is PFLAG. They have chapters in both Austin and San Antonio. The South Austin group meets on the second Thursday of every month. The last meeting was coincidentally dominated by trans issues.

Thank you for the resources Silvermist! I'm checking them both out now...

Well I took the plunge and had my first counseling session last night. I must say things went very well for an introductory visit. We spent the full hour going over my background and history as well as what I expect to achieve in therapy. The counselor I found has been involved with the LGBT and trans communities for about 15 years so I'm hoping his experience will come in handy.

Again, a big thank you to everyone here for the encouragement and support.  ;)
