I've been having a rough patch these past few months since I started my transition, and I feel it is appropriate to share the really good day I had.

As some of you know, I have been having employment issues for a long time.  The issue? Well.... finding a job, lol.  But today shows that when it rains it pours (in a good way).  I started today with a phone interview for a position in education.  I feel satisfied with my performance and think it's possible for me to get the position.  To make things better,  later in the day I get an email requesting me for an interview for another organization.  Without getting into the details, it would be the perfect position for a hippie like me.  And just when I think the day is already going well, I get notified by a good friend that he knows of a job opening and is able to get me the position.  3 job opportunities in one day after facing months of rejection after rejection.  All of sudden I have a position that is pretty much guaranteed and two other opportunities on the side.  Really it was amazing news for me.

Lastly, I got together this evening with my friends to go to a support group.  My two best friends and one of their mothers came out just to show me support.  It was so amazing! Even though they don't know it, their support really means the world to me.  After going through so much family drama, it was nice to be around people that are encouraging and understanding.  I can't explain how touching it was that they came out for me.  But the best part was the group coordinator pulled me aside just before I left and told me that I am going to have no problem passing at all.  He said my facial features are already there, and I have nothing to worry about.  I've heard that before, but I always brushed it off; however, he really meant what he said.  It made me feel so amazing because that was the first time I felt it may be possible for others to view me as a female physically. And my friends all told me that they can already see some progress in my facial features and they agree with him.  While I don't notice it, enough people have brought it up to make me feel more confident about it.  I'm starting to feel like I just may be able to make it through. :)  Yeah, I'm not ready to dress in public yet (which is forbidden under my current house rules) and still have much to work on, but I am making progress step by step.

Awesome, even when the bad days outnumber the good, its those good days that keep you moving forward and give you hope for the future.  Hopefully you will continue seeing more good days and can eventually be allowed to be yourself all the time!
Discord, I'm howlin' at the moon
And sleepin' in the middle of a summer afternoon
Discord, whatever did we do
To make you take our world away?

Discord, are we your prey alone,
Or are we just a stepping stone for taking back the throne?
Discord, we won't take it anymore
So take your tyranny away!

I am so happy for you LtL.

Now, we have to work on a name.

Hippie girl, huh?  Can I start a topic about that?

Thanks all.  It's funny but I think I'm finally starting to see the progress myself.  When I woke up today and looked in the mirror, I couldn't help but notice the more feminine features in my face.  Hopefully, this is just the start!

Yeah, I do need a name.  I have no idea what to call myself.  Picking a name has been a very difficult decision.

Rinoa. Go, do.

Lol.  No, I don't think that will be the best name for me.  I used to go by as Jenny a few years ago, but I don't know if that's "my" name.  Even though my friends called me that for about 2 years (yes it has taken me forever to get this far), I don't think I'm a Jenny.  That's the problem.  I love so many names, but I can't find the right one that defines or suits me.   Right now, I am using a unisex nickname of my real name that I have been given as a child.  Hardly anyone calls me by my birth name, so it's not a radical shift.  Maybe I will start a thread and we can do a vote.  "Choose my name" the game show, lol.

Yeah a name isn't always easy. The first one that came to mind for me was Riley, so that's what I'm going with unless I find something better. Gender neutral name ftw?

Glad to hear that you are having a good day.

As for a name when I thought to my self well looks like I am going down the rabbit hole Alice seemed like the logical choice for me.
Formally known as White Rabbit

Sorry, I don't mean to gloat, but I have even more good news!  Today my sister for the first time referred to me as her sister while we were talking.  It was a little hard for her to say, but it made me glad that she that without me requesting it or pushing her.  It came up while she was asking me to go shopping sometime next week.  Even though I'm nervous about it, I'm glad she is making the effort and trying. :)

Riley is pretty.  I like it. :)

I'll come up with something.... eventually.

If anybody deserves a good day, it's you :).  So much good news!  So, so happy for ya!

This is wonderful news. I'm glad that things are finally starting to turn around. ^__^

If you're having trouble coming up with names, there's a book I'll recommend. It's called Gary Gygax's Extraordinary Book of Names, and although it's primarily intended for role-playing games, it's by no means limited to that. In fact, I tend to consult whenever I need to come up with a name.
What about Lydia?

Lydia is a nice name, but it's not for me.  I don't know.  I'm really weird about finding a name.

@ learningtolive, Totally a deserving and Brilliant Day! I seriously hope you land one of the job opportunities. Your spirits must be lifted as are we for you.  It seems like your sister has been working her way through to you that she has love all along, recognizing & welcoming the sister she knows. Super she wants to go shopping with you, and maybe female fashion shopping, hopefully as the girl sister you are. Best wishes for many more positive steps forward.
Hugs
Jamie

P.S. My other sister Jamie D could do a thread on hippie, I had my days back when lol!

Oh, what a lovely report!  It is one of the greatest feelings to get that phone call, "Can you report for the job next Monday?"  LtL, that is a thrill and a half.  Molte grazie.
